  1. The ever popular CDC trade deadline whinefest.
  2. You do realize the bottom five teams are 19 points behind us. We'd have to lose every game and have them play 500 hockey down the stretch to amke top 5. There's a higher chance of us making the playoffs. Secondly, the coaches job isn't to lose. Maybe you've never played sports but any player that quits trying to win should be moved no matter what name is on the jersey.
  3. Hey, don't expect Player Name level. He's not getting paid $6m after all.
  4. Mad when a pending ufa isn't moved at the deadline. Mad when one is. Mad about the GM overpaying bottom six players, mad when they don't overpay and move him instead.
  5. Didn't see Alvin's post deadline presser? He said they couldn't come to an agreement with Motte. That left move him or let him walk for nothing. It's about 30 seconds in....
  6. Let me help you. Teams actually have scouting departments. They even scout AHL teams. You don't think anybody noticed his three game performasnce against some pretty good NHL teams or his AHL record? He was brought in as number three insurance and stole the number one spot in Abby. But nobody noticed. Pull your head out of that dark place. I said the could try and entice him with 2m on a "two way". A pretty safe risk/reward deal. That aside, I highly doubt he signs a deal for a million or less without exploring free agency first. Why would he if he believes, as you do, that he's earned an NHL backup role. Lowball him and there's no reason for him to not to explore free agency options.
  7. May well happen, may not. I don't actually care. But bringing him up rather hurts Abby's playoff hopes doesn't it.
  8. At a million or less we're not guaranteeing him anything. He can be sent to the minors anyway without his cap counting. You're offering a minor raise.
  9. Again, it depends on how confident he is. And yet again, he is a UFA. I'm sure his agent would recommend the sure money but it's still up to the player. I also think at 900k his agent would recommend waiting until free agency.
  10. I could have sworn they said last week they only had two left. Personally I don't think it matters. Just play it out.
  11. That 37 yr old is on a cheap expiring contract with 18 games left. They traded a PK'er and picked one up for free to finish the season. I could understand shaking your head if there were addtional years remaining but that's not the case.
  12. UFA is his bargaining power. All he has to do is wait until free agency if he feels he's being lowballed. Another team may be willing to offer a two at even 2m. If he's not performing back to the AHL at an AHL salary. Is he confident enough to go for 2m on a two way rather than 1m on a one way? We somewhat gambled on Demko based on three playoff games.
  13. There's 18 games left and one back to back. Demko is likely playing until we're mathematicly out.
  14. With a .915 S% and 15-3-2 record in Abby I suspect he'll already get over a mil as he'll be a ufa. Don't add to his bargaining power.
  15. He's on a cheap expiring contract with 18 games left. Does it matter?
  16. Halak reportedly was willing to waive. Doesn't mean there were any takers. Why call up Martin? He's on an expiring contract. Bringing him up weakens the Abby team and gives him more leverage on a contract extension. There's 18 games left, just play it out.
  17. Why give Martin amunition to ask for more money? His contract is up at the end of the season.
  18. Or it could be part of a trade this summer or next season. It's still an asset.
  19. I thought draft picks were "highly" valuable. As I understand it now, that only applies to moving 'disliked' players rather than 'liked' players.
