You can but it most likely will affect your signings. What we didn’t want to happen was people having to make trades because they had 5 C’s and only 3 LW’s.

Just an update on a some things for you guys. We received a few inquiries as to how long teams would retain the rights of a prospect/player who had been drafted with no NHL contract. We have decided that all players between the ages 17-22 who have been drafted from an NCAA Team/European League their rights will retained for 3 years (for example, Brady Tkachuk + Kirill Kaprizov). All other drafted players with no NHL contract who played in a CHL league or are 23 years of age or more regardless of league - their rights will be retained for only 2 years (for example, Evan Bouchard + Valeri Nichushkin had he not already signed). This rule will only apply to the 36 round team draft.
Secondly, there will be a small free agency period for any players that remain undrafted at the end of our 36 round team draft.
Thirdly, just a reminder that the time limits will be shortened to 4 hours on July 15th at 7 AM.
Lastly, I'm pleased to announce that our resident legal counsel @canucklax will be overseeing the CBA from here on out.
Thanks everyone for your patience with us as an exec team. If you should have any further questions or thoughts, as always, feel free to send me a PM.
Cheers all.

We'll discuss it, but my initial feeling would be no bad rep as that would dissuade all potential deals in the near future since every player would fall under that category.
Yes, this is correct.
We are all currently building our teams which is a totally different situation than everyone having established teams, signing or re-signing a player, and then immediately moving. As of now, you build your team however you feel is best for you and what you decide to do with the players is up to you.
Actual free agent signings/re-signings would be a totally different story.

Retention is way out of control in PUCK tbh.
At least it gives a way for us bottom feeders to get assets! Haha.

I'd mentioned it in the thread nobody was responding with offers Qwags or I liked, so we had to make calls to GMs ourselves who both had cap room and assets we wanted. And not only assets we wanted, but assets we thought we had a reasonable chance to get
Either that, or I'd just bug @Sygvard and @Sestito'sHandMadeVodka about Marchessault for the umpteenth time
To be fair, after your last offer to me I thought I might have to give my left nut to get Gaudreau.

@thejazz97 how does one get on the list where you DM us before making a deal to our division rival to get out of a cap situation like this?

1 more little problem:
All of my recent draftees have the correct year for their unsigned prospect status to expire (2020) - except G Kirill Ustimenko, who has 2019 for some reason. @thejazz97
Sorry to add to this, I have this with Swayman also.

Doing a comparison between where I drafted my players and where Bob ranked them (on this year's draft class, does not include any 2017's I drafted)!

41. Jonny Tychonick (50) -9
60. Niklas Nordgren (55) +5
