  1. Was at the game tonight and was impressed by Virtanen, he did well defensively and was trying to create an offensive spark. His linemates did absolutely nothing to help him out.
  2. It's gonna be Baer - Bo - Pettersson Leipsic - Sutter - Boeser
  3. Tkachuk may have been considered a better player, but at the time, he was by far the best d-man available. Leading up to the draft that guy was a winner: the memorial cup, and the World Juniors and he was the main defenseman for both. At the time, he was the right choice. Sometimes things don't pan out.
  4. Wilde has issues off the ice. Woo the right pick
  5. Was hopin Wilde, but don't mind this pick in the slightest!
  6. Ugh... First Brock, then Pettersson, then Juolevi. Run and hide Demko, the injury bug is comin.
  7. Even with Juolevi not in the league, the #5 selection is still justified. When we drafted him, the kid was a winner. He won the memorial cup and won the world junior championship. I always ready people talking about how you need a #1 d-man to win these days. In his draft year, Juolevi was that #1 d-man for his teams. Here's to hoping he can be a winner with us.
  8. These show more his hands then his shot. The 2nd one is more of a shot, but again, it's fairly slow. I'll show you what I mean: His goal here: It's deadly, but I feel he holds it for a second too long.
  9. Wonder what you all think about the speed of his shot? When given time, he can absolutely snipe the puck, but will his shot be as affective in the NHL, when that slight bit of time that he holds it for can get the opposing teams defense and goalie back in the play? Even in the France game, you can see the goalie is back in position before the shot is released, fortunately Elias still snipes it, but a situation like that will go the goalie's way more often then not in the NHL. Pettersson's shot is hard and accurate, but it's anything but quick. Not bashing the guy, just wondering if anyone else is concerned, or if it's just me?
  10. Would you give a 2nd round pick to Seattle to have them take Eriksson?
  11. Kids a beast. We'll see if he plays next year, he'll definitely get a really solid look. I think it'd be good if he played with Henrik and Daniel. I could see them signing up for 1 more season in a 3rd line role to mentor Pettersson and Dahlen before the Swede torch is passed.
  12. After seeing the earlier replies of wanting guys like Konecny, Roy, Juulsen, Kylington and Merkley ahead of Boeser makes me sure glad that Benning is our GM.
  13. Boeser makes the Canucks exciting again. Goes to show you don't need vets to win. HATTY!
  14. With a name like DiPietro, you can't go wrong!
  15. Kelowna mainly produces D-men, but has produced some incredible forwards too (Benn). Looked to be rated as a late 1st rounder. Solid pick. Our RW prospects are looking good.
  16. Hope once the Sedin's leave, Canucks become a faster, more exciting team to watch.
  17. Jersey retired is a stretch. He was a great player, but had a bad reputation. Had a few big moments, but that doesn't allow him to be in the same ring as Linden or Smyll.
  18. It's about time we got a kid that's hungry to shoot. Averaging 3 shots a game, exactly what we need from the blue line.
  19. I was hoping we would get Tkachuk, but we gotta live with what we have. The top 4 picks were all above the rest, and I read numerous times that around 5-12 would all be similar type players. No matter who we got at #5 would've given us this feeling
  20. Never calling you stupid, just thought that the point (from my understanding) was stupid. It's true, Chychrun and Tkachuk both made it, but that's because there was a hole in the lineup. Calgary needed the winger, just as Arizona needed the defenceman. Those 2 players were able to fill those roles. Canucks already are clogged on the blueline, but in a couple of years, we won't be. In my opinion, the high HQ defender has more value, but takes more time to develop and they can end up surpassing those taken above them. (ex. Larsson, Keith, Weber, Subban, Karlsson)
  21. This is stupid. Olli is already averaging more points per game already then last year. You can't say that because he 'had a good team in front of him' is the reason he did well, that's absolutely ridiculous. Teams start by having a good defence who can make the first pass to get the offence started. You could argue the same thing about Doughty, Keith, or Letang. Claiming they're only good and they've only won the cup or a gold medal because they had the best players in front of them. Does Letang playing behind Crosby make him an average defender? Or having stars like Kane and Toews mean that Keith is just an average defenceman that only has a ring because of the forwards he played with? Absolutely not. Defencemen are just as, if not more, important to a team's success as the forwards. Your argument makes every defenceman that ever played on a winning team irrelevant. London is 12-3-3 this year (8-1-1 over the last 10), give me a break. Sidenote: Olli has played a handful of games less then other defenceman, currently sits top 20 in Points Per Game. Not bad for a guy who thinks defence first.
  22. unfortunately yes. Good thing I have 3.
