  1. Flyers doing a complete rehaul on defense... maybe it's good I'm keeping Hart in my Keeper League
  2. Garland was more likely to receive the offersheet. I think with all this cap clearing up and the roster appearing set, it means we can do a long-term deal, rather than a bridge contract
  3. This guy scores one goal in the playoffs, now suddenly thinks he's a top 6 center lol
  4. Nate Schmidt back to Vegas after the Fleury deal? Who knows if it'll be for hockey?
  5. Garland looks like he drives opponents crazy... forgot that he was the one who caused this incident:
  6. I watched his highlight video, and got giddy. Garland's got SO much drive. It'll be fun to see someone else work hard for the Canucks
  7. Wow... not a single on of those is remotely a good deal
  8. I don't know what may happen with Seattle by Summer. But so far Francis has failed miserably and I would be pissed if I was a fan. With his reputation of being difficult to trade with as well, Seattle is going to be hurting for a looooooong time
  9. Schmidt apparently rejected a WPG trade? Wonder if it was the same thing they offered Vegas last year https://theprovince.com/sports/hockey/nhl/vancouver-canucks/vancouver-canucks-nate-schmidt-rejects-trade-to-winnipeg-jets
  10. In retrospect, it may have been too much, but everyone was very happy with the signing at the time. We just lost Markstrom and needed a goalie that could entice Seattle. At the time of the signing, it seemed like a guarantee that Seattle would take him, especially if Holtby could find his game even a little bit. But that didn't happen
  11. One of the most consistent goalies out there. Has got a SV % of .896 each of the past 3 seasons. Incredible!
  12. If you were to tell me 2 weeks ago that Canucks would have OEL and Garland and have lost: Roussel, Eriksson, Beagle, Virtanen, and Holtby. I would've thought you were talking about the first couple days of Franchise Mode on NHL 21
  13. I don't think they did, he was a risk since he was drafted, simply because of his shoulder surgery. We saw Jake struggle numerous times after the draft: - his production in Calgary his following season was nearly the same as the year before, except half the goal production. - He struggled in the WJC, even after being an NHLer for most of the year (1 point) - He hardly produced in a full season of the AHL - He came to camp 20 pounds overweight (by 25 pounds or so) - In the 2019-20 playoffs - In the entire 2020-21 regular season Perhaps another year in the WHL would've been okay, but the year after his draft year didn't seem to help him either. The Canucks recognized their mistake in rushing him and gave him an entire season in the AHL, where he also struggled significantly. At the end of the day, I think Jake was his own worst enemy. I think he never got a chance to mature after being drafted by his hometown team. Imagine being one of the most popular guys in your own city, you'd feel untouchable. He had money and fame, and things kind've got away from him.
  14. Never thought about New Jersey or Washington. New Jersey definitely needs a goalie. They'd be a team we could get a decent pick from. I guess Washington just lost Vanecek and Lundqvist. Holtby could be a nice welcome back
  15. Holtby had a .889 SV% and 3.67 GAA... that was tied for 52nd in the league... only Hart was worse. I think we can find a better backup
  16. Ugh it's painful to look at the Bruins stats. Such good signings: Bergeron - 6.875M Pastrnak - 6.67M Marchand - 6.125 McAcoy - 4.9M That's some really good cap management. That being said, most of these contracts end in the next year or 2. Boston needs to load up now while they have all these players. Schmidt is unlikely I think, but he would honestly be great for their powerplay. Holtby fits their mold perfectly, as they have money for him this year, but won't have money for him next year. They can role wtih a Holby/Rask combo and take some pressure of both guys. I'd go for Studnicka, or a 3rd/2nd round pick for Holtby.
  17. As much as I wanted Ehlers or Nylander at that draft, Virtanen (at the time) made the most sense. He was a Vancouver boy and drafting him would mean we would likely have a player for 10-15 years if he worked out.
