Reading a report that says the Jays have traded for lefty reliever, Genesis Cabrera from the Cardinals. https://www.mlb.com/player/genesis-cabrera-650893 The numbers don't blow you away, but the average fastball is 96 MPH and he strikes out just over one batter per inning. Looks like a possible alternative to Mayza.

Toronto gave up a minor-league catcher named Sammy Hernandez, who is currently playing Rookie Ball and was not listed among the Jays' top 40 prospects.

Also of note, someone has to be moved off the 40 man roster to make room for Cabrera.....can you say "Mitch White"?

Ahh yes another Mitch White type low end reliever exactly what we need :picard:

What are the chances that Aatu comes into camp ready to go and takes the #3 center spot for opening night? With his size and decent face off % I  think we may  see him on opening night.

I do wonder if that‘s why we haven’t gone out and gotten a veteran more proven 3C yet. I would like to go and get a Suter or Stastny type as an insurance policy but if Raty is ready to be a day 1 third line center that would be a huge win for us.

Strawman argument - you are putting words in my mouth and then calling me 'sick'.... says more about you than it does about me IMO.

I am not defending rape in any way shape or form.  I am just suggesting that its plausible that some of the people invovled do not deserve to have a lifetime ban and that we should wait for the official report to be released before sharpening the pitchforks on everyone invovled.

No. You’re definitely insinuating being drunk is a valid excuse to rape someone or watch someone being raped. You don’t have to be sober to understand how wrong that is but cute attempt at a backpedal though.

lol you think the teams around the league really give a f about the incident?? if they were serious they would have made a statement out of chicago and took away their 1st last year or multiple first or even force the owner to sell the team.. the rest of the NHL didn't complain about it aka sorry it made the news but we don't really care about it.. and you are pinning it on a 22 year old at the time lol.. most 22 year old today probably still doing stupid sh*t and can't make a proper decisions themselves... if he wasn't the captain.. then he'd less scrutinized like kane?? because the organization slapped the captaincy on a guy that's probably way too young to be a captain therefore it's all his fault everyone else is not as culpitable as he was?

Exactly. He was the captain. The fact he stayed quiet means he’s just as guilty as everyone else in that organization who knew about what was going on at that time and did nothing to stop it.

Beyond any discussion, let me remove any speculation here by stating Toews will NOT be playing professional hockey this upcoming season.

"Word is Toews won’t play next season. When his agency sent out its list of pending free agents, we are told his name was not even on the list."

    https://www.bleachernation.com/blackhawks/2023/07/12/it-sure-sounds-like-jonathan-toews-is-retiring/

Translation: No team wants to sign him after the Kyle Beach news came out so he’s probably gonna be forced into retirement due to his tarnished rep.

So, the two teams Karlsson was the star on, just happened to be really terrible teams?

Sure, give him an award for that

Do you really think Karlsson’s - would be that high if he played for the Bruins or Vegas, or any team that was at least average defensively? +/- is the most flawed stat in hockey. Always has been always will be.

The dirtbags in this management group' character issues extended to their lack of professionalism with Boudreau, hiring a convict to coach the team, and not telling Cole about the history with #28.  They have proven that they have no issue with disgracing the franchise with their repeated misconduct.

Who’s the one incapable of acting like an adult again?

Jays would have won a WS by now if AA had this group. He isn't afraid of bold moves, Shatkins are very mediocre to say the least. They never built anything decent in Cleveland when they were there.

No faith in Shatkins to make the moves necessary to bring the Jays to contenders. Hope they get their asses fired by the off-season.

They need to before the season is over if we’re being honest. Losing a series to the Tigers which included a no hitter should be a fireable offense.

Public pressure forced him to do this.  He literally asked what number he wanted and was given the number he has always worn.  Then the Canucks hang him out to dry and he is forced to make a statement on his own and change his number.

This is an embarrassment to one of our new players and the Canucks should take responsibility for putting Ian Cole in such a sh*t position. Next time don’t hand out the numbers that are supposedly out of service. We all know which numbers they are.

And then the same people wonder why everyone calls Canucks fans and media toxic :picard:

Depends how many teams are included.

    Arizona

    Columbus

    Buffalo

    Winnipeg

    Calgary

    Philly

    Detroit

    Ottawa

    Chicago

    St Louis

Pretty easy to pick 10 teams/cities that are much worse options than Vancouver.

And another thing, how many of those teams have a Hughes who Pesce would be playing with for the remainder of the decade? Buffalo maybe with Dahlin? Detroit with Seider? We probably have the best up and coming core out of all those teams, and Vancouver is probably the best city to live in out of all of them.
