Grain of salt:
: "I think Tyler Myers is going to get dealt...I believe that bonus was paid this week, based on the info I have. If it hasn't...the #Canucks can opt to pay it early so they can facilitate a trade. That is an option."
I see so many people say it was paid on July 1st and a number of others saying it won’t be until September 1st and no one, at least that I’ve seen, has verified which date it’ll be paid on.

I would (much) rather give that package for Pesce. We don’t have a 2nd next year however.

Guys like Aman, Studnicka, Dries, PDG, and Joshua are not locks on this team.
If management isn’t looking to upgrade these guys then they’re not doing their job.
I would be happy with a whole new bottom 6 to be honest…
Heinen Suter Podkolzin
Comtois Blueger Joshua
Would like to see a better upgrade on 3C but on the cheap that’s a very versatile bottom 6 with more size and pk ability.
Yep. Almost a completely redone bottom six with size tenacity and solid defense.

With how tight cap is, I doubt we see many/any offer sheets until cap starts going back up (and they were pretty rare to begin with). That can easily come back to bite you in the ass with retaliatory offer sheets.
Yeah, teams did probably take note of the Aho/Kotkaniemi saga.

I still kinda want to see someone grow a set and send Bouchard an offer sheet. Either cripple Edmonton’s salary cap or they lose a blossoming top 4 RD.

I see Soucy stepping up physically, being in control, and very hard to play against. He provides positive value more often than not when he's on the ice and helps create offence. I see Burroughs try hard but he's always a step behind and has a lot of trouble making good hockey IQ plays. As a result we end up scored on or running around in our own end half of the game. Burroughs adds nothing offensively or towards tilting the ice in our favor.
Soucy has a far better understanding of time and space and what he himself is able to accomplish without doing too much. He understands his limitations, is confident, and he has over 250 games of experience to Burroughs 95. Burroughs looks like a kid in the candy store just happy to be out there playing. In addition, he probably got into 30 games this year simply due to us not having any other options.
It seemed to me Soucy took on a tonne more responsibility in Seattle, and Minny, and played in top 4 situations all the time, where as Burroughs was a guy forced into the line-up that played when there were no other options.
It seems blatantly obvious to me if you watch them play who I would choose. Not to take anything away from Burroughs. I love his attitude and compete. Soucy is just a far better, more well rounded player, with size. Again, stats are extremely limited and that's why they are no substitute for watching the games. This is a good example of that if indeed their stats are equal.
People get far too attached to replacement level players simply because they’re from the lower mainland around here. Again Burroughs is a good depth piece to have, but should not get anywhere close to top four minutes on any team with playoff aspirations.

I don’t see how Soucy is a borderline top 4B/5A, when analytically he and Burroughs has the same statistics, defensively. Soucy also has never played in the top 4 in either Minnesota or Seattle averaging 30 seconds per game against elite competition in his career. While Burroughs averages about the same as Soucy (he actually averages .02 seconds higher), in his short NHL career.
If you compare both players on natural stat trick, this season. They pretty much have an identical advance stats, with Soucy being the better offensive defensemen.
I don’t see how we’d be going anywhere if we had Burroughs in the top 4 instead. I liked Burroughs but to even suggest he’d be a better fit in the top 4 over Soucy solely based on fancy stats is insane.

I’ve said before and I’ll say again. Any Pesce trade starts with next years 1st, one of Höglander/Podkolzin and probably another prospect as well.

His off-season looks very Benning like to be honest
People aren’t ready for that conversation though

Surely Yzerman is getting ripped apart for waiving his former 6th overall pick right…Right?

I disagree. In this proposal, they get a first round pick and a couple of young players.
It’s ok in my 12 years on this board I’ve not once seen qwijibo give a positive response to any Canucks proposal. But I do agree though I think San Jose needs a bit more for Karlsson and Carolina needs a bit more for Pesce.

And with what cap space exactly?

Really though?? Let's not count Nielsen and Sawaduko or whoever
The Pens so far today got Graves, Eller, Acciari, Nieto, Nedeljkovic
Conveniently ignoring Soucy, Cole, Blueger and Irwin who are all either capable NHLers or solid depth that make our team much better already.

Pesce is younger, bigger, better and healthier Tanev so he’s a perfect fit long term for Hughes.
Yep. Perfect guy to come in for 4/5 years so Willander can develop properly.

In an IDEAL world, there’s still a deal in progress for one of our wingers, especially since Pearson is coming back
Hughes- new RD
Cole-Hronek
Soucy-Myers
id be over the moon if this happens
Ngl I kind of like that too. Cole’s got more experience in a second pair role.

No official source, just some chatter going around that Stetcher is on the team’s radar. Would be an upgrade on Burroughs (*sheds a single tear*) in terms of experience.
If Stecher was physical and didn’t s*** himself in his own end then yes he would be.

I'd be cool with this... But I really don't know if we need yet another winger
I agree but relatively young players with upside are what we should be looking at regardless of their position. That’s how you stay competitive and healthy, with good depth.

[Speculation] Canucks exploring Tyler Myers trade

Should honestly just pay it early anyway and tell Gary to get bent.
