  1. With only 75 company owned Radio Shacks left open in the world, they're auctioning off everything that was in their HQ.  There's some really weird stuff there like gold records, signed memorabilia from celebrities and politicians, decades old Tandy computers, shortwave radios, etc.

Some of that stuff could probably be resold at a profit on eBay.  The gold record is at only $50 after almost two days with just over a day to go in the auction.

Cool.  Didn't know either of those things.

I guess a lot of that stuff in that large auction is in mint condition since a good number of the items came out of basement vaults in their Texas HQ.

Yeah some of it is really cool - honestly I'd be quicker to purchase some of the vintage computing equipment before I got any of the gold records though. RIAA certification plaques don't hold a lot of value unless they're for pretty monumental releases. Vintage computer/tech collectors pay out the butt for something rare though. Especially if it's functional.

I know vintage Apple computers go for big bucks.  Not sure if Tandy will or not.  I remember going into Radio Shack in the 80's and messing around on their computers.  Their big claim to fame was something like being able to make 3 different sounds or something like that... lol

Of course that was before Ad Lib, Creative Labs, and Roland came out with their sound cards.
