ronthecivil
Build that interchange, and that could just provide the excuse needed to charge a toll on the Alex Fraser. Port Mann is being tolled. Translink needs to rebuild the Putello. It's literally falling down. They have no money. Pretty clear how the replacement will be paid for (tolls). That means all the traffic that currently uses the tunnel and Alex Fraser will get that much worse as people try to dodge the tolls. The only real way to keep the traffic evenly spread out is to toll all of them. As such rather than see all the money go to general revenue yet again I at least want the roads fixed. With a six billion dollar budget you.... Highway 91 (Alex fraser) Get rid of that damn light and build an interchange. As well auxilliary lanes from 64th to the bridge with all the delta traffic seperated from the thru with one entrance point to the bridge right before it. But we have a lot of left over money so there's more to do. I would look at potentially making a seperate crossing for the east west connector near the east end of Annasis Island connecting into the area near the existing 99A/Westminster Hwy interchange and seperate the 99/99A streams south of the river and put them on their own bridges. As well, build 99V, the Vancouver bypass (connect from Sunbury on the SFPR direct north on the no 8 road corridor and then a two lane each way highway under Boudary that connect direct to highway 1, aka the long dreamed of 99/1 connector). Highway 99 Make it three plus one HOV each way from the border to the Oak street bridge. Build a three lane each way replacement bridge. Obviously need to build a new crossing where the massey tunnel area is. Might be able to keep the existing tunnels as a transit/cycling alternate route/bypass/raid transit line(build light rail in the existing tunnels). If all that sounds expensive easily have a six billion dollar budget from all the tolls. Spend the profits (and there will be profits) on transit. What good will building a 3-lane Oak street bridge do when you have Oak and 70th at the north end?
Common sense
What good will building a 3-lane Oak street bridge do when you have Oak and 70th at the north end? 2 lanes that will go through to Hwy 99 SB (much faster speed buildup) while the other is for those getting off at Sea island way. Common sense
Metro Vancouver mayors vote 81 to 34 to pass translink budget plan including gas tax hike proposal. After it passes BCLeg, we will pay 17cents/litre on the gas tax.

ronthecivil
What good will building a 3-lane Oak street bridge do when you have Oak and 70th at the north end? Oak street is three lanes each way on the north side of the bridge. Just convince the city to make the parking lane an HOV lane and only lane reduction would be south of the bridge where you would have three general purpose lanes go to three. In fact you might move that portion to the 91 intechange where the three all pupose lanes start south of that with one of them going to 91. Going south you have the two all purpose lanes that becomes three so that the 91 traffic doesn't even have to merge going south. And you still have HOV from the border to as far as COV wants to take it.

Weber's Playoff Beard
It's been a long time coming... Still no timeline on the 91 B-Line on 41st or the 95 on Hastings? I use the 41 a lot and I think it can wait. It's only in the morning and in the afternoon/evening when the 60 ft buses that come every 5-10 mins still aren't enough. The rest of the time, there's enough room on the 40 ft buses to sit. I don't know about the sfu 135 enough to comment about it. In regards to the Broadway skytrain extension, when do you think the project will break ground?

Feel free to bend over and take up up the rump as Translink panders to rural areas instead of places like Hastings or 41st (places already with buses running on overcapacity mode)

Sounds alright, but in order to do it right you'd have to get rid of the parking and do the HOV thing, kill the lights at the 70th ave intersection (that place is always a mess), and make it illegal to turn left at any time of the day all the way up to Park. Oh, and replace the entire bridge
Columbo
At least you have buses in Vancouver. Ever try commuting in Surrey? Maybe if Surrey wasn't designed by what appears to be a 5-year-old it would actually be feasible to run buses there!
Opmac
Apparently 180,000 hours of annual service will be added in the new year. Anybody know if TransLink even has buses to make this happen? Didn't they scrap all the New Flyer D40s after Olympics?
Vanuck14
Yeah curious myself where they going to get the buses for the extra service, unless they have some already on order?

There are also the D60s (articulated), 3001-3021, that are in storage. Approximately 40 foot 154 buses and 20 60 foot buses. Looking forward to seeing these back on the streets.
