tan
Blues Kings Yotes, Predators, to second round. all "strong" teams are missing...
Hobble
Well, if those teams beat their competition, wouldn't they be "stronger"? I get what you mean though. There wouldn't be any "traditional" or well-storied franchises. I wouldn't mind it, as it means a team that hasn't won it will win it. Wouldn't be too good for TV ratings though. Wouldn't mind Blues or Predators. Phoenix can drop like a stone and be relocated to QC...

NightHawkSniper
Yeah Nashville is weak, I mean all they have is Weber, Suter, Gill, Rinne, ...
Raiun
If this happens, we could call this the year of playoff upsets. Looking like Philly could edge Pittsburgh too. Still way too early to discount any team though.
Guest The Brown Burrows
Nashville and St. Louis are strong. I've called Nashville the next elite team.
MariWanna
Nashville is far from weak.
etsen3
I believe a few years ago, a similar thing happened. All the lower seed teams in the Western Conference won their first round series. I believe that was the year Edmonton made it to the final.

DrWhom
Baseball does it right....NHL should do same: Division Champs and a wild card into the playoffs. 8 teams make it, no more rewarding teams for waiting til the end of the season to start playing. Make the season mean more, make winning your division mean more too.
iinteenseee
Nashville and St Louis aren't weak.. I'd bet that either one could be the team coming out of the West.
Down by the River
I think everyone is misinterpreting the OP's intent. I think the point of this thread...at least the point of this thread should be the fact that the four abovementioned teams have not traditionally played much of (or any) role in the playoffs for quite a few years. Usually it has been Detroit, SJ, Chicago and Vancouver at the forefront of the Western Conference. This no longer seems to be the case. Nashville, St. Louis, Phoenix and LA have never really been the teams 'everyone talks about' when it comes time for the playoffs.
