Tearloch7
Someone early in this thread used the word "ludicrous" .. an apt word for a situation where the NHL attempts to "right all its wrongs" with one fell swoop. I saw at least 10 later hits, and as a much a "charge" in the Flyer-Penguin game last night without one penalty being called. I see "star" players handing out deliberate head-shots ad nauseum and not a call is made, with rare exceptions, where a two minute "roughing" penalties are called. Malkin alone has handed out 3 blatant head-shots thus far without a penalty being called, Lets face it .. there is a double or triple standard in the NHL, and anyone who denies it is either delusional, blind or has never played the game. It is beyond being "inconsistent" .. ludicrous is indeed the "word".
EmployeeoftheMonth
Let's put it into perspective: Marty McSorley once swung his stick and knocked Donald Brashear out. That got less games than Raffi flying in with a check...yes, albeit hard and off target, but a hit. Not liking it.
The Wizard of AZ
Lol, hypothetically if Phoenix gets ousted in the next 3 games, Raffi has to to dish out over $400,
Haikara
Do all the suspensions this whole season amount to 25 games? Regardless, the league has no idea what it's doing. Torres is just a scapegoat for all the mistakes it previously made. 25 game suspensions are absolutely fine, IF it were consistent with punishments handed out to similar hits this year. Comparing to Keith's hit on Sedin, he jumped, but showed less intent to injure. Hossa was taken off on a stretcher, as compared to Sedin, who left on his own. How is it even 5 times more serious? Once again, the league is being inconsistent and making up rules as they go.
shazzam
Now is this the standard for repeat offenders? I certainly wouldn't mind if it is. or is Shanny just using Torres to send a message since the playoffs has been a little crazy this year

Ron Swansons Moustache
Torres better hope they go on a bit of a run cause forking over a quarter of your salary for next year......ouch!
The Brahma Bull
Let's really put it in perspective and say that Mcsorley initially got 23 games (the remainder of that season) and then afterwards it was extended to be one full year. Hell the NHL suspension even managed to stop him from playing in other leagues during his suspension. Essentially Mcsorley was given far more than 25 games for his assault on Brashear; he got 82. GSS Corp.
This is too extreme. I don't understand how NHL's ruling can be so different!
giXXer
NHL fails yet again!! 25 games are too many in my opinion.

PeZzy
After watching Shanahan's video, I have to wonder...wasn't Dustin Brown's hit on Henrik Sedin defined as charging and therefore should have been penalized?

Stick-in-Rink
Here the NHL goes simply suspending a player because of the extent of the injury. It probably would've been 10 games less if Hossa wasn't taken out on a stretcher.. Zetterberg was perfectly fine after that stupid reckless hit by Weber. But Weber being a star player and being lucky that Zetterberg was fine, got nothing.. The NHL is such a disgrace and so god damn inconsistent. tera_ha
25 games indeed sound too much. I was thinking of around 10-15 games. Hopefully torres has learned his lesson

PeZzy
If Henrik Sedin was knocked out, Brown would have been in trouble. Having said that, Brown didn't leave his feet.
