micgao
And... winning faceoffs won us the game? winning faceoffs scored goals for us? Malhotra makes more than the entire Kings 4th line thats owned our 4th line whenever they matched up. MALHOTRA HAS NO IMPACT AT ALL IN A GAME, why cant these Malhotra fans get this in their heads. He's useless 5 on 5, absolutely zero hockey sense with the puck, all he does is dump n chase and lose puck battles. If this team wants to make changes then they have to start from the bottom and up because our 4th line was a liability for the most part of the series. micgao
If im Henrik or Kesler and im struggling, the last thing i want to hear is a one dimensional 4th line faceoff taker calling me out lol.
jigsaw99
If you can find someone else who is a BETTER faceoff person, then ya. Manny's faceoffs are what the Canucks need, last nights game, he won like what? 12/16 faceoffs?? Thats HUGE! Even Lappy, hank or kes cant even win that many, but who can? MANNY!!!!!!!!!!! Provost
I will repeat what the other sane people on the thread have said: It was our 2nd line that didn't do their job. Our bottom 6 wasn't spectacular, but weren't bad. Defensive zone faceoffs are one of the most important aspects of the game.. they stop the opposition from getting scoring chances. He is on a NTC contract for another year, and is hugely popular in the dressing room. He is more valuable than Raymond at the same price because if Raymond isn't scoring, he is not providing anything else at all. I don't see moving Malhotra as anything of a priority, and would rather have a somewhat overpaid 4th line centre than the mishmash of guys like Bolduc that we had recently. Best case scenario, he regains his form and is our 3rd line centre again.
jono2009
i think he is a crucial piece of the puzzle that must stay in vancouver....he needs to stay, his leadership on and off the ice is needed
Trebreh
Good thing you're neither Hank nor Kes because you sound like someone that would be hated in a locker room.
Trebreh
Without all those faceoff wins, it coulda ended 3-1 LA and not even gotten to OT. Easily. Defensive zone faceoff wins on the PK? Very, very important. I don't know, maybe you don't know much about hockey, but players salaries aren't determined by points, they're determined by their value to the team, which Manny HAS. NightHawkSniper
Now that I thought about it, 2.7 million is a lot for a person whose only advantage is taking face-offs, rather sign him for less or go in a different direction.
Nomorelosers
Let's just bring back Cliff Ronning!! Pay him league minimum...apparently all you need is 'leadership' and mad face-off skills...
