NJD VS WSH Series Summary:

Looks like NJD captain and first line center Travis Zajac was injured for 7 games....which was the whole round against Washington.

Game 1: 3-2 NJD

Game 2: 3-1 NJD

Game 3: 2-1 WSH

Game 4: 2-1 WSH

Game 5: 3-1 WSH

Game 6: 5-2 NJD

Game 7: 4-2 WSH

So, the Devils went up 2-0 in the series. Washington came back to tie it up and also had taken the 3-2 series lead. NJ then somehow scored 5 goals on Lundqvist forcing a Game 7 where Washington won the series.

NJD stars Engelland, Stafford, Pesonen and Manning all came back during the round, but it seems captain Zajac being out was too much to handle as Lundqvist had 3 games in a row where NJ could only manage 1 goal.

Devils top forwards were very unproductive during the playoffs. Filppula was silent.

Pesonen came back from injury in Game 3 and had 5 points in 5 games. At least he produced PPG.

Star forward Engelland had 3 assists after coming back in Game 3 also.

Major credit to forward Tomas Kubalik and Rich Peverley for stepping up during the playoffs when others could not.

3 of my top 5 producers were defensemen.

Ugh...

Gagner Casavant Orlov all were hurt against New Jersey. Add that to Galiev and no wonder it was such a close series. Both teams were hit with injuries.

Will be a tough series against the Islanders missing this many top players.

Draft looks not so great unless you have the #1 pick. I've got Plante at 4.5 white stars and then a bunch of guys at 3.5 white or green stars. No 4 stars in the draft seems a bit weird ... Still a month worth of scouting left, so I guess things might change a bit.

I'm pretty excited. Me and NYI are also spending pretty much all the day and evening together tomorrow as we prepare for family Christmas stuff so it'd be pretty fun for us to have this to watch, and then lord over the other all night.

Not that it's going to be easy for either of us. No Cinderella stories this year, huh?
