Amish Rake Fighter
Now that I know Carolina retained half of Welsh's salary this trade makes sense. I think Welsh was the targeted player as a cheap 4th line Centre with upside, and Dalpe as a reclamation project. Before I saw it as us trading a 4th and taking on Welsh's contract for Dalpe, and then proceeding with giving him awful minutes. I had a hard time understanding why we would take on a bad contract and trade a pick for "depth". I am really excited about Welsh as he fits so well in that role and has the skill to potentially move up the lineup. I don't have too much hope for Dalpe, looks like another one of those tweener players (talented enough for the NHL but not skilled enough for the top 6 or physical enough for the bottom 6). That's pretty much what I thought when the deal was made Derp looks like a project with some upside but Welsh looks like he might get a crack at the 4C spot. elvis15
Not sure what this means for the rest of the roster (did we have a spot open?) but Dalpe's conditioning stint appears to be over: Thomas Drance @ThomasDrance Zac Dalpe has been recalled from the Comets according to the AHL transactions page: http://theahl.com/stats/transactions.php …
