So like... Every goalie is amazing?

It's a conspiracy.

The NHL has special pucks for when the Canucks play.

Remember when ESPN had the "chip" in the pucks so they can show a "red highlight" on live TV when a puck went a certain speed?

Well the NHL took that technology and now when the Canucks shoot, they can, via a remote control joy stick, slightly affect the pucks trajectory, making it hit the post, the shaft of a goalie's stick, or even worse, cause a funny bounce in our end and make the puck magically roll over the net and not allow Luongo to grab it so it goes in our net.

We're only averaging 2.7 goals per game. That wouldn't be too bad except we're also averaging 2.7 goals against per game as well.

Actually, our G/G is 2.65 and our GA/G is 2.60, meaning 16 teams have a better G/G but only 12 have a better GA/G. With all of the defensive breakdowns and just bad luck goals we've seen, being in the top half of the league for GA/G isn't too shabby. We are, however, in the bottom half in terms of scoring which remains our biggest concern. Look at Chicago and Phoenix. Both have GA/G worse than ours but have still managed 12 wins in 18 games because they both have a G/G over 3.

Of course, our PP is a big part of why we're not scoring more. Only 3 teams have the same or a worse PP% than we do. (Of course, the fact that 14 teams have had more PP opportunities in fewer games isn't helping... SJ remains the refs' darling for some reason.) Beyond that, we just don't seem to be finishing on our chances even 5-on-5. Only 5 teams have a higher S/G than us. Of those, only Winnipeg has a lower G/G. It seems rather clear that getting (and taking advantage of!) quality scoring chances remains an issue.

Of course, it's also important to note that we have played more games than any other team. We've played 20 while 4 other teams have played 19 and all others have played even less. More than half the league has played 17 or fewer games. St Louis has only played 15. Point is, our guys have been working harder than anyone else in the league and having more travel to boot. So, while we need to identify the issues and work on the areas that need improving, we might want to also give them a bit of a break while they catch their breath!

There is no argument whether Thomas or Luongo was the better goalie in 10/11

Thomas took home the Stanley Cup, Vezina, Conn Symthe and posted a 1.98 GAA anad .940 save % in the playoffs. Thomas will be remember for this and unfortunately Luongo will be remembered for the meltdowns.

10 goals over 25 games is a fair amount, and Lu was pulled a few times and came in relief in game 6 against Chicago, so although they both played in 25 games, Lu played almost 2 full games less.

He did all of this because of us we gave him the crappiest low quality shots and couldn't generate scoring chances because of their D. Every time we had a breakaway their D came running in moments afterwards so we had no second chance. And we shot a lot during the SCF this bumped up his save percentage which was crap after the tampa series(Ex Game 7 shots were 37-22 in favor of Vancouver only five qualified as scoring chances). In these ways we made Thomas appear statistically and in game look better in the finals.

On the other hand, our D had to take risks to try and generate offense against their tough system which made it impossible to get through the zone without giving up possession. What this resulted in was low quality scoring chances for us and very high quality chances for Boston. Whenever we lost a game in that series its because we were playing the wrong style of hockey.

In game 2 of that final our shots were 33 while Bostons was 30 much closer compared to game 7 shots on goal when we outshot them 37-22 and were playing a totally different style of play(we forgot what won us games by end and were mentally exhausted by the hitting and refs).

And for the 10 goals, Lu was left in for the 8-1 game for the whole game... well TT got a shutout. On top of that he had two 4-0 shutouts. Yet through it all Lu only allowed 10 more goals compared to Thomas which is pretty amazing considering he had allowed 22 goals because of our terrible D and Thomas only allowed 8.

You see things aren't always how they appear you have to look past what is shown to you sometimes to see the truth. Think about it this way how would Thomas do with a defense like ours ... o wait, he's already doing worse in Florida then how lu did.

PP is dead.

Daniel's shot isn't what it used to be.

Henrik still hasn't learned out to shoot.

Almost all our forwards have trouble getting the puck up above the goalie's pads and not along the ice in close - where most good goaltenders would have the bottom of the net covered, we have no chance.

Not knocking on the Sedins - they are the reason why we are still a playoff team with a chance at the Cup.

We have no bonafide scorer that can shoot. Kesler's our best, which isn't a good thing.
