As much as this guy isn't my favourite, some valid points here regarding buyouts/OEL:

Allvin said his "intention" is to not use buyouts. That still leaves the door open. But as hopeful of seeing the end of OEL, there is no chance our owner will cut a 20 million dollar cheque ths summer. Maybe summer 2024 he will cut a cheque for 10 mil to buyout OEL. IMHAOr not buying out OEL this summer is more about the initial cost of the buyout than what's best for the club's on ice performance.

There is his 0.1 GAR from Evolving-Hockey, which gave him a generous score on the PK, at even strength he's a -2.0 GAR. (Goals above replacement)

Natural Stat Trick shows that he was on ice for highest rate of shots against at 5v5 and 2nd highest xGA and actual GA. Only guy who was worse was Stillman.

Curious, but how far into SA xGA and GA did you look?

Personally I feel our goaltending made OEL and Myers look bad. Right away the fan bias against those 2 immediately jumps to “its their fault they suck blah blah blah”

If its Hughes, no one bats an eye.

I’ll hit you back with some stats, but for now I’d just like to hear your input.

Also I’ve heard GAR is also a garbage measure. I dont know a ton about it, but maybe if you dont mind explaining GAR in further detail that would be greatly appreciated

I didn't like that last paragraph of that article, but, sadly, have to believe it's true: "On the other hand, Ekman-Larsson will be turning 32 and was on the decline for years before coming to Vancouver. It is more likely that Ekman-Larsson continues that decline than that he experiences a renaissance."
