  1. Tuch is out of our conference so that’s a good thing. He’s a beast in the playoffs. Buf was already a much harder working team this year without Eichel, so this should make them better. As for Vegas, if Eichel returns to form, it is hard to imagine them not winning a cup with this group. Though Tuch is a big loss for their playoff drive. If I was Buf, I would of tried to get a player like Hague thrown in.
  2. Agreed. I remember hearing when they hired Shaw that he wasn't going to take over the defensive end of things. I was perplexed to say the least. Maybe with his more well rounded experience, he'll be in a better position to take over lead... hahaha
  3. To be fair, most of the areas are our weakest areas right - except goaltending.
  4. Ya? It mattered in some respects for grinders and fighters, but the skill players were often still of below average size. 1991-1992 Canucks: Igor Larionov 5' 9" Cliff Ronning 5' 8" Pavel Bure 5' 10" 1983-1984 Canucks: Tony Tanti 5' 9" Thomas Gradin 5' 11" Stan Smyl 5' 10"
  5. I feel like this is a misconception. Average NHL height has actually increased over the years (2020 still being just above 73 inches). What we don't see anymore is the oversized 4th line fighter, but that size difference has probably been offset by the increase in goalie size. Otherwise, we have always had small players in the league (Theo Fleury for example).
  6. Yeah, I agree. It would have to be an off season acquisition. If the losing trend continues, I'd let Shaw take over for the season and then bring in Lambert in the off season personally. I wouldn't jump into an entirely new coaching team mid season just cuz.
  7. Posted this in another thread, but I think we should go after Lane Lambert. "Lambert, 56, has been on Barry Trotz's staff in Nashville, Washington and now New York. He is known for getting the most out of his players, and was credited with the offensive breakouts of Evgeny Kuznetsov and Tom Wilson before the Caps' Stanley Cup run. Lambert has been on NHL teams' radar for a while. He was a candidate for the Colorado Avalanche job in 2016 (which went to Jared Bednar) and the Anaheim Ducks' head-coaching vacancy in 2019 (Dallas Eakins). Trotz has said Lambert is "long overdue" for a NHL head-coaching role."
  8. Horvat has had only 4 fights in the NHL (https://www.hockeyfights.com/players/18089), and he isn't a modern day Iginla or anything, but for a top 6 player he has decent fighting strength. I wouldn't say he has lost a fight (again only 4). He could definitely exert himself on other top end talent a lot more than he has been. He shouldn't go anywhere near plugs though.
  9. Good take. It is evident by their play that they are trying to do too much individually and not playing as a cohesive team. This was particularly highlight when they were making a push at the end of the last game - one guy trying to weave through the entire team. It ain't gonna work. Whether this is a rusty player issue or poor coaching, I don't know. But if Green doesn't fix it, then we need to fix Green.

  11. Highmore playing a bit on the 3rd line is a far cry from Megna being played on the 1st.
  12. Were you around for Willie D's usage of Megna and Chaput? haha
  13. I’m not a fan of Green either, but this simply isn’t true. We have canned several vets for not performing. Losing Gadj is the one the irks me though. Should have given him more of a look.
  14. Swedish Hockey League MVP, NHL Rookie of the Year, Point Per Game in his sophomore year… 7 game slump. Yup. Evidence definitely says “bill of goods”.
  15. It’s not an “either or” scenario. People are allowed to give thanks to someone full stop. A lot of people know someone or are someone working on the frontlines. That isn’t the topic here. Quit your whining.
  16. Over reacting much? Hahaha Agreed he needs to step it up, but ain’t no way we are trading him. Especially not before firing Green.
  17. Pros: - The crowd is back! - Bailey had a good game, nice size and speed, won board battles. - Demko still looking solid despite the L. - OEL and Myers pairing still looks like a keeper. OEL should get more offensive minutes than he’s getting. He knows how to get the puck through. - Boeser had some good chances. - I think Burroughs had a solid hometown game. Hope we keep him on the roster. - The PK looked improved. Cons: - Sportsnet game clock. - The ice was terrible, but not as terrible as the refs were for parts of the game (though not the reason why we lost). - Rathbone looked a little limp out there. Needs major work on his defensive game. We need a more viable backup on LD to play a shutdown role. - Poolman also had a few rough plays. - EP still not able to do generate anything. - PP still looks like minor league play. Standing still too much. Not enough movement and shots on net.
