  1. Still feel like this is the right direction. Maybe the cap is solved by moving Dickinson for Zucker (Could be a cap win for both sides: Miller, Dickinson, Dermott for Marino, Zucker, Kapanen and Pickering Then likely still move Garland or Pearson for another RD.
  2. Definitely a good reply from JR as it's his job to provide some air cover for the operations of the team. I still don't believe the trade deadline, or near it, is a viable solution however because they won't, or at least shouldn't, move JT with the team in the thick of competing for the playoffs. That timing could rip the soul out of the team if JT is a key piece of that run. Trade deadline would also be less of a hockey trade and more future pieces, which is good now, but not then. My bet is it still happens in the offseason and likely with Pitts or NJ.
  3. He's obviously not going to be at the same level of OEL, however the timing of his progression may line up closely with the end of OEL's contract. Obviously a lot can change, but I see Pettersson and Rathbone competing for the 2LD in several years. Right side of Hughes, Pettersson, Rathbone could be good if the last two progress. Completely different players, but they seem to be both fairly equal in potential.
  4. It will be the Sedin's. Allvin will remain as GM, and JR will hand the reigns over to Hank and Danny.
  5. To me either we are moving Miller this offseason, and if we don't we are signing him. There is absolutely no situation that I see where we could trade him later in the season or at the deadline. This team is all but guaranteed to be in the playoff hunt, and there is no scenario where you take one of your top forwards and move them before the deadline in that situation. With the performance he has (I still believe 99 points is the anomaly, but still a 65-75 point guy) and his passion, if you take that out of the room mid-season you could lose the room and the team could start to falter. It would be a bad situation. If he gets moved, it will be this offseason so that we go into camp with the players that are going to make a push. That said, I still feel like the timing is getting worse. They say it's a long offseason, but once the draft happens and the main UFAs start to sign, there is a smaller window, but I think it closes soon. The pressure is on the management group to get this done I think, and I really hope they have this all mapped out as that window is closing.
  6. Probably been stated a million times already but I had no idea Miller was traded previously (NY to Tampa) for the pick (plus more) that became Nils Lundkvist. Maybe it’s meant to be and we go back to the original offer….
  7. I would wager a guess that if he wasn’t waiting on the Canucks he would have already signed. Likely in Seattle for top dollar. Also interesting that there is no buzz on Niederreiter or Subban. Complimentary parts at this point, but haven’t heard a thing.
  8. Klimovich is for real. He will be a Canuck regular in 2 years.
  9. Feels like a good 4th line move. Could have been a good option for us, but we have a couple 4th liners with size now.
  10. Most of these are also emerging teams ready to take the next step like the Devils, Sens, Ducks etc. They have the cap room for a while and are looking to prove to their young core that they can start to be competitive. That's why the Ducks signed Strome to 5x5 and kept Gibson, but they have a lot more room still. To me, it's still NJ, Pitts (They have to swap cap with us) or Isles (If we are still on speaking terms).
  11. According to capfriendly, there are many competing teams with plenty of cap space still. Sens, Flames, Devils, Islanders, Jets, Stars, Preds, Ducks, just to name a few (Or a lot). Elliotte not hearing, just means nobody told him. I'm guessing there are a lot of discussions going on right now.
  12. If we sign Klingberg, it would mean Myers would be moved, and it would mean we have a defensive RD as part of the Myers, Miller or Garland trade.
  13. Just trade him for Marino and Pickering, and then sign Klingberg for 7 x ?. Miller for Marino, Pickering and Klingberg and is pretty nice overall haul. Klingberg and Miller are the same age as well.
  14. The more I think about this, this feels like it may have been something we should have gone for. He is definitely old, but I feel his production may drop, but the defensive side of the game would still be there for 3 more years. Burns with Hughes feels like it could have been a decent move. Guessing we have something else in store still.
  15. My ideal scenario would still be the following: -Miller to Pens for Marino and Pickering -Sign Klingberg -Trade Myers to Dallas for Hakanpaa Hughes Marino OEL Klingberg Rathbone Hakanpaa Dermott Schenn That would be a pretty amazing D core in my mind. Seems feasible too....
  16. I would have to believe that a pairing with OEL would only help as well, and it would provide some insulation. Would be pretty amazing to have an elite pairing of OEL and Klingberg, and not have them even be the best D on the team. Still need a younger stay at home D for Hughes, but maybe that just ends up being Marino. On a complete side note, if OEL was a FA and signed a 7M x 5 year deal, we would all likely go wow, that's a pretty good deal. Maybe Klingberg just signs the same thing.
  17. Very true. That is about a perfect a fit for both sides as possible.
  18. If we were able to give them Miller for Marino and Pickering alone I would be game. Meets a specific need today and in the organization. Then if we sign Klingberg, we have the stay at home D in Marino and another high tempo offensive D in Klingberg. Myers and Pearson would then also move for futures to create cap space.
  19. -Move Myers for Hakanpaa (Meets both team needs) -Sign Klingberg (Hopefully for a slight discount) -Move Miller for all of the best futures we can get regardless of position OEL Klingberg Hughes Hakanpaa Rathbone Schenn ...and a bunch of futures for Miller. Works for me and the cap should be just fine.
  20. This could really put us over the top. I think an OEL and Klingberg pairing would drive the play very well with Hughes and whoever on the other pair. We could drive the offence with a move like this. I don’t think it’s ever a bad thing to bring in top talent.
  21. Well, it is the retirement state. He can save a flight at least.
