  1. Vegas checking out the Penguins too…. I’ve always liked the Oilers gear but they wrecked it with the colours. Brutal
  2. It’s a combination of the same as before (Leafs etc) decent but wrong colours (Oilers), Brutal (Most of them), and two good ones (Flyers and Coyotes).
  3. Thought it was but not 100% sure. There was so much going on that it was hard to keep track.
  4. I still feel like Miller is a 65-70 point player all day long on this team for the next few years (He will recover in the upcoming weeks), but he fills a need on this team that is already deep (C/LW) and even deeper with Kuzmenko and Mikhayev. Could even impact re-signing Kuz which is unfortunate. It's just not an ideal allocation of cap given that he is in a different age group vs the upcoming core. If we look directly at what was on the table the question becomes pretty simple in retrospect. Would we have wanted: Miller or Chytil, Lundkvist, 1st (Maybe RD Maksim Strbak) and Klingberg (UFA who clearly wanted to be here) Sure, some of those pieces may not have been perfect fits, however you can make some other moves to adjust, once you've captured that initial value. Doesn't address the direct partner for Quinn either, but overall this feels like it would have been light years better. OEL Klingberg Hughes Myers Lundkvist (Off-side) Schenn I get the discussion on this not being the best defending group in history (OEL, Myers, Schenn are still pretty good at defending), but they would drive the play very well. You still need to make adjustments, but look how far we are away from that now.
  5. Obviously he was just coming back from injury so there may be some lingering affects there, however he is such a great addition to our team from what I can see. Speed, drive and his obvious defensive ability makes him exactly what the doctor ordered for this team. He is in the mold of what we need more of on this team. Because of this, I think we have some options at the forward group to move that don't fit this new mold.
  6. Here is my quick summary of the situation: -I would prefer Bo over JT given the likely contract differences to be our 2C for the longer term. Even at the same value I would give the edge to Bo due to speed and relative consistency. -I do not see Bo as the captain of this team, as his leadership style is muted at best. He is steady (Great for a long term 2C), but I don't see enough true leadership as captain -The true leader of this team is Petey and we should just give him that opportunity. He is passionate, plays with high effort (Along with skill) and is discussing plays back at the bench showing he wants to find ways to improve at each step. He is engaged. -We should have taken Chytil, Lundkvist and a 1st for Miller as is adds to the depth, but more importantly gives us major cap flexibility. Obviously not the best package we could have dreamed of, but given our timeline and needs, it would have been a great opportunity to expand our depth. The 1st while low, will be someone of interest and the cap flexibility can turn into a direct need rather than depth in an area we already have.
  7. Feel like I'm in the minority, but OEL at ~7M until age 35 is actually a very good contract. He helps stabilize the D which is anything but stable outside of him. If you want more points out of him you need to put him on PP1, but because PP1 gets the majority of the TOI it will even be worse for him points-wise on PP2. He has done this before, has a good shot, and reads the play better than most, so if it's just points, we can make that happen if we want. His contract is not something we need to be concerned over, however Miller's is. He plays with a bit of a snarl, has some decent hands, but is slow and only going to get slower. He won't match the pace of the game we are trying to play and the contract will be bad sooner than later.
  8. Love how we got beat by a defensive defenceman in overtime. Only getting better.
  9. Hey Alexa, which defensive minded RD’s making 4-5M are healthy scratches tonight?….
  10. Scratching Garland makes no sense. Many other guys before Garland. Must be a trade in the works.
  11. Agreed (Maybe another add is needed) and maybe Garland would hold more value instead. Mostly just the concept since the Devils RD is set for years. Maybe it helps that Severson is currently on the bottom pairing too and unlikely to re-sign.
  12. Could we keep it simple and offer Boeser for Severson? Both are falling out of favour but it could be a nice change of scenery deal for both.
  13. IR: Calgary Flames place Jake Gardiner on IR https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/injuries
  14. When healthy: Garland Miller Boeser Kuzmenko Pettersson Podkolzin Pearson Horvat Mikhayev Joshua Lazar Hoglander Hughes Schenn OEL Myers Stillman Dermott
  15. So if I stack up the Canucks and Lightning RD together is it safe to say we have the following combined depth chart?: Foote Cernak T Myers P Myers Schenn Poolman T Myers is the only offensive D man of the bunch and arguably the best RD we have. That said, he is not the right fit and for our LD guys in the top 4. A claim seems like too good of a fit for us.
  16. haha very true. In this case he would act like a younger Schenn. Complimentary pairing with Hughes but obviously not on the PP or the same amount of mins. I still see them overloading OEL and Hughes if we are down in games too.
  17. Lots of good players on waivers, but Phillip Myers is the guy we need. His size, physicality and speed match what we need. The fact that he could keep up with Hughes could make him a younger D partner that could mold his game around Quinn. At worst he will be a physical 3rd pairing guy. Make the cap work and maybe we end up with this mid-season at 5on5: Hughes - P Myers OEL - Schenn Stillman - T Myers That is a much tougher D core than before.
  18. Seems like a pretty obvious choice. Gives a strong leader for the next 1-2 years, while they determine of the young core who would be the next leader. No sense in rushing to name Thompson, Power, Dahlin or anybody else captain until you see them step up as a leader. Nice gesture to Okposo who's earned it as well.
  19. If we can’t claim him I guess we need to trade for him. Zboril is added to the original lineup posting for Calgary with Joulevi already sent down.
  20. Calgary sends Olli Joulevi to to AHL. No waivers required.
  21. Calgary places a claim on Michael McLeod and sends down Alexei Toropchenko if successful
  22. Likely a little early to determine it is over, but you could be right. If that is the case, then we are likely in a situation where we are back to needing an RD to replace Poolman, unless he makes a major step forward.
  23. I think Rathbone and Dermott will rotate and pair with Schenn while we find another defensive D man for Myers or Hughes depending on the pairings.
  24. I think we need to focus on an LD to pair with Myers, which means a defensive LD to secure the 2nd pairing behind OEL Hughes. Someone like Cholowski may fit but secretly hoping Alexeyev or Carlsson go on waivers. Could be a good recovery to have the following D: OEL Hughes Alexeyev Myers Rathbone Schenn Dermott
