Yes once cleared to play. But Martinez is probably “close to” returning. Hence the need for a trade. Vegas probably wants him back sooner than later as Vegas has been losing lately. Getting back a top D would be a boost for them.

Vegas needs the $5M off their books to activate Martinez so they can’t retain salary at all.

Whatever team makes the trade with Vegas should milk it. Should be at the very least a 2nd and 3rd. Maybe dump some LTIR contracts as well.

I’ll say Schenn is having a good year but not Garland. At best Garland is having an average year. After a hot start, he’s been streaky. Hasn’t passed 40pts yet. I don’t know about you but $5M for 35-40pts is not that great.

Every non playoff team gets a chance to win the lottery (1st or 2nd pick) but can only move max 10 spots. And can only win the lottery twice in 5 yr period. So bottom 11 have a chance for #1. Bottom 12 have a chance for #2. So if Canucks win the lottery, they can only move up a max 10 spots. So they can not get #1 or #2 at their current standings.

Boeser is the trigger man. He needs to play with a playmaker to set him up with the nice passes. Everyone except Demko, Miller and Hughes are having a bad year.

You would still say no if by next years TDL a team offers a 1st + prospect for Boeser at 50%? OK.

The retention that I mentioned would only be for 1yr on his QO. Not a multi year waste of cap and money.

Team elected arbitration but Boeser can decide if 1 or 2yr. If 2yr, it takes him right to UFA.

Then Canucks can try to trade him after that. I’m sure 50% retained would get a pick and prospect from a contending team.

Then like I said, JR is stupid for not offering a QO. He is basically letting go a young 50pt player go to UFA with nothing in return. At the very least he could trade him for a 2nd if not more.

They are hoping a long term contract with a $5.5M aav. The QO is only a $7.5M x 1yr. In this high speed contact sport, you’re only 1 hit away from a career ending injury. That’s why long term contracts are sought after cuz it’s guaranteed money.

The QO is there as a means to retain Boeser rights. Boeser doesn’t have to accept it if he and the team are discussing a long term contract. If Canucks do not offer the QO, then JR is stupid and should be fired.

JT and Bo need to wait until July 1st to “officially negotiate” and put pen to paper. Boeser was able to re-sign as early as last summer. But it didn’t materialize. We can still re-sign him even now if both parties agree.

Well RNH signed a $5.15 x 8yr full NMC with EDM and Reinheirt signed a $6.5M x 3yr deal with FLA. So the ballpark is between these numbers. RNH cap hit is on the low side cuz he wants to stay there and a full NMC for the entire contract.

People are upset for his lacklustre play. But Boeser is still a 20g 50pt player minimum. What is that worth in the league right now? I think around $6M aav

I believe Canucks can walk away from the ruling but then Boeser immediately becomes UFA.
