Turning point?
Good on JT regardless.
-
Consistency..... everyone's a -1 except for dries line... consistency... check.
-
Good move for both guys especially PODZ who just needs a double shot of confidence to get him back on track.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Dermott practicing with a contact jersey on tomorrow. Knowing that he will slot in ahead of Stillman is a very good thing if Burroughs comes out or another injury happens.
-
The concerning part of this termination is how can it help Rachel Dorrie's mental health by bringing this to the court of public opinion.
In the long term just going through the process in the actual courts would be a better solution for her health and well being you would think.

And if I had my druthers
Lockwood in for Dries. Would make us more gritty and sand papery. With a little line adjustment that is.
I like Lockwood, but our 4th line is one of 2 consistent lines that are doing their job so wouldn't want to mess with that.
Dries played pretty good night so maybe that 3rd line can be more then a 'slap it together' line until we get a bona fide 3rd line center.
wait a minute.... we do have another center..:)

Give Bruce, a proper freakin mandate !!!!!. Never mind humiliating him. JR has handles this deplorably. It's him that is the unnecessary component.
I agree its been handled poorly, and you know JR won't do it.
BB in the end wasn't his hire and his style doesn't match what JR's looking for, so move on now rather than wasting valuable games.
-
Please lets finish this off with Bruce, there he goes.
Enough is enough with JR hanging on to BB right now. Its not fair to the coach, the players or the fans as no one can see what the future looks like, good or bad.
At this point move on from BB with an interim coach that you like, if you don't have your head coach lined up.
He wanted him out even after last season so cut the cord!

That is an insane stat to read.
We might be one of the only teams in history to literally finish bottom 5 without really having bottom 5 stats (minus GA/PK).
We’re middle of the pack or top 10 in many categories. Yet 31st in the league. Either we have been considerably unlucky, or something is truly rotten in that locker room.
It’s almost like our losing streak is unsustainable, but it is…
Save % is a big one with Demko 58th and Martin 41st in the League. yikes!
If these guys can average over 910 even we would probably be in a playoff position.
Even our high danger chances against is in the middle of the pack which is actually quite surprising so can't entirely blame it on that
Get 'r' done tonight Demmer!

Tanev has a 10 team trade list on his contract.
I would think the Canucks would be at spot # 32 for him ..:)
Hopefully something shakes loose in the next 1-2 days as the media are working the rumours HARD!

Fighting does not equal leadership even moreso in todays NHL. And leadership is not an issue, period. You’re fkn clueless to argue otherwise.
Yeah, Linden rarely fought and took us to the final, Sedin never fought and took us to the final
Mentally tough, Bo's the same and there are many more that actually won the cup with out dropping the gloves all the time.... the list is long.

I’d say he’s quick but not fast.
same as kuz, Hoglander etc
our teAm build just doesn’t cut it.
We need a different / better team mix
but for sure his work rate and little legs make him look quicker
Garlands like a modern era Cliff Ronning, spinning , twirling, dipsy doodling, stick handling in a phone booth, dizzying those D men.
Would like to keep him if we don't blow it all up.

I guess it depends on what tearing it down means to people. Saying "nobody is safe" is pretty generic and hollow......very few are ever safe from being traded. Are they going to sell everyone and bring up the entire Abbotsford team to Van?
If they seriously moved on this we could see
before deadline 2023
Horvat for 1st and Center prospect
Garland for 1st-2nd and B prospect D or winger
Demko 1st and G prospect
All these players have positive value, either age, contract or performance wise
Miller is a tricky one, as he has to be moved now, unless he waives his NMC so they can take more time dealing him. The last place he would want to be is here for a rebuild.
2023-4 season could see Myers / Pearson at deadline so we don't retain a penny of salary
Boeser could wait until 2024 season too depending on his game and he would have only 1.5 years left at deadline
So the only one left would be OEL
He could be moved if we take back a bad contract for a couple years rather then his 4 years remaining
3-5 years for sure in the rebuild would be reasonable.
Shoulda woulda coulda done this when Benning started his tenure, but Aqua didn't want it.
Maybe he's willing now seeing how the last 8 years have gone.

Imo Hughes is a complimentary piece
If we rebuild would we rebuild our defense around Hughes? Do we need a offensive defenseman when we suck
TO have had Morgan Reilly during their rebuild and just built around him and Hughes could be similar.

I wonder what most fans expectations are on a rebuild..How long it should take, which players will want to stay for their length of a rebuild and etc
It doesn't seem to me that some realize by blowing it up we essentially have to say goodbye to _____ players
For example.. I don't see EP sticking around for a full rebuild
I just want to see my team win the cup whatever that takes or how long it takes.
Well Toronto blew up their team in 2016 and had 3 original core players left 3 years later. They had Phaneuf who is our OEL and did unload him in a messy multi player trade. It took 5-6 years to be "good" still choking but a good team.
Hughes , Petey , maybe PODZ would still be our obvious keeps and Petey would be 29-30 by the time we have a possible contender if he sticks around.
Bedard, and hopefully multiple high 1st rounders would be our new core.
So in 3 years a full rebuild would say good bye to Demmer, Horvat, Miller, OEL, Garland and other expiring contracts
At this point if a poll was conducted I bet 80% would be in favour.

slightly different topic
Media negativity is very quiet on the Motte and Dickenson tracker
Motte 0P last 6
Dickenson 2P last 7
Saying this now as so often when an ex player does well everyone pounces. and then go very quiet when everything balances out.
Our player acquisitions , besides Stillman and have been pretty solid so management is not the problem.... yet.
They need to make moves, but not out of desperation.
Can see Horvat, Hoglander or Garland as first to be traded before the deadline and BB gone by the end of November.

Chris Tanev was elite, top 5 shutdown dmen in the league. We let him walk and even worse, most of the fanbase was okay with letting him walk
Calgary took a chance with his injury history, that Van didn't want to
Just like LA took a chance on Willie Mitchell, another great shutdown D
We lost on both players overall

Stillman has been a huge disappointment.
However he helps the team in 2 ways
1. Top tank commander with those high IQ D zone decisions
2. His cap hit is only 225K by sending him down
He's a diamond in the rough for sure
