I am a big Edler fan for the last few years.

This series, not so much.

He showed all his weakness in this first round series, just HORRIBLE. Definitely looks like he can't play under any pressure in the playoffs this year.

If you were AV, what would you do in game 4?

Thoughts?

no one, we don't need someone that can't play under pressure.

I'm a Rome hater, I would start Rome.

Yes, you have to play your best players. Henrik hasn't looked horrible defensively but he's done nothing otherwise, should he also have reduced minutes? Gotta play your best players to even have a chance. If anyone can turn their game around, it's your best players. They're your best for a reason.

as bad as he has been, you gotta roll with what you got.
As far as Edler's ice time, I wouldn't change a thing, the guy has to be better and he has to play lots of minutes.

Tailor back his minutes slightly, but nothing too drastic. He's usually a clutch player in the playoffs... and I'd still rather have him playing a ton in an important game, even though he's been playing awful.

I've always thought Edler was overrated, and this series is just showing it. Lidstrom 2.0 like a lot of people believe, he is not.

Too much pressure on Edler to do everything. We expect him to be a puck mover like Ehrhoff, but he just isn't that guy. He's 25. He's just entering his prime.

People need to calm down. The core doesn't need to change. It's not our season and never was. Run into injuries early one with Daniel Sedin. Kesler obviously isn't on his game and it usually takes a year for player's to fully recover from hip surgery.

There are moves that need to be done, but there shouldn't be an explosion.

Ballard, he was our Best Defencemen tonight.

And was Probably the Best in game 2 aswell.

Isn't AV's Motto "The best players play", then Ballard should move up the Line-up or else Ballard and Tanev should Play more than Edler and Salo.

Agreed

He has become our worst D man.

Others need to log more minutes in his place or we have no chance

I would start Rome or heck, even Alberts over that guy right now. In fact, I myself, want to sign a one day contract to replace Edler. I don't know how to skate, but I sure as hell know how to NOT get a delay of game penalty with 1:42 left and no one in your vicinity checking you.

If that were the case, then Raymond would be on the 4th line with the Wolves.

I agree 100% he should have been, AV just uses that as His excuse to Bench players that he doesn't like, and Im getting sick of it.

He has to be consistent with that Mentality or not use it at all.

Yeah I agree, and also him being reluctant to switch up certain plays and Breakouts and strategies when they don't work and are getting Exploited.

It always takes him a Game too long and that Game always Costs us.

Edler a total disaster before this game.
Tonight was fault of Vigneault/Gillis for not benching him after the first 2 stinkers.
This was almost sabotage tonight but i blame AV as much as Edler.
He should have been benched.

I think we honestly have a better chance of winning if we in bring Alberts or Rome in to replace Edler

Ballard - Salo
Rome/Alberts - Tanev

Ballard...but really, ANY ONE. Edler has been hands down the worst player on the team with his sloppy passes (especially his drop passes in our own zone), terrible penalities and his inablility to cover players (he was covering no one on that Kings goal last night). I'm not trying to be mean spirited about the guy but he has cost us so much these playoffs, the guy needs to be benched, and it might seem hasty but I would trade him in the post season, I just don't see this guy developing good hockey sense, if he doesn't have it by now I don't think he ever will.

Exactly. We don't have another player on the roster who has his skill set.

Bones has to put him back out there and hope that he rediscovers his game. BTW: Although he was caught out of position on the Brown goal, the team played well defensively overall.

Last night was about lack of offense, not lack of defense.
Orland Kurtenbach and Dennis Kearns had just been torched 8-1 by the Habs, but they still took time to come out to meet us, some fellow BC boys who were playing hockey in Montreal. THAT"S what being a Canuck is!

Edler hasn't been very good this series, but I'd still rather have him the lineup over the likes of Alberts, Rome, and Gragnani.
