Right now, look outside the window and you should be able to see a dot on the Sun!

That dot is the planet Venus!

It is currently the Transit of Venus!

The event is very rare and extremely cool for a physics nerd like me.

A little background:

The Transit of Venus is a very rare astronomical event that occurs in pairs of eight years, about every hundred years (2004, 2012, 2117, 2125)

It only lasts about 6 hours every time. This year's started at 3 PM and should end at 9 PM

A map to show you where it is currently visible:

If you live in those areas, get out there and watch it now! If you missed it, or if you live somewhere where it is invisible, here is a live broadcast!
