GradinToSmyl
What if a team decides to send Weber a 1 year offer sheet, does that mean he becomes a UFA the following year?
Erik Karlsson
Gillis better make some damn moves, this team is not stanley cup caliber and having 2 starting goalies is stupid, when you can improve the team tremendously by moving one.
danaimo
Yes. So it could be 4 1sts for a rental. If we won the Cup, I say great.

GradinToSmyl
4 #30 draft picks might not be worth it but 4 top3 picks could set up this team for a long time. future top picks also have a trade value as well.
danaimo
Gradin, my point is that draft picks from a team that is in the basement every year is worth considerably more than picks from a team that is always amongst the last to pick. I hope this makes more sense.
Erik Karlsson
You don't think the injuries affected us last year? In your opinion, based on the last 2 years who exactly is SC calibre?
Bazooka
We should make a run at Nash as well, everyone else is and it's nice to fit in.
DeNiro
Bad idea to even leave the possibility of an offer sheet open. There's too many teams that need to get to the cap floor that could all of a sudden offer him 6 million. No way we match that, and the compensation from it doesn't really do much to help us now. Gollumpus
Maximum compensation for a successful offer sheet is 4 1st round picks. Imagine you had Edmonton's last 2 picks and their next 2 1st round picks. I hope Gillis would consider that kind of compensation for Schneider. Don't get me wrong, I think Schneider will be a great goalie, but Van could seriously restock the cupboard with 4 first round picks.
danaimo
A 6 milliion dollar cap hit would make him the 6th most expensive goalie in the league. I guess it depends on how much you rate him.
Everybody Hates Raymond
Wait. So the Canucks would sign a 7 million dollar Schneider contract, if that's what it took?

danaimo
Cam Ward has a cap hit of 6.3 mil, Bryzgalov is at 5.6 Mil. So maybe an offer over 8 Million is not so stupid. If a GM "says not at any price" at this time of year, it normally means "give me an offer".
Vancouver911
Strange that TSN would put out a reason to not watch their endless draft coverage... TOML
