Thank you TGC for the kind words and the article on the Connecticut Whale's Cody Bass, who is in our system and saw some good GML icetime last year.

Cody only played 18 games this year due to injury, but he scored 7 points and was plus 4 with 54 PLM. For a so called 'energy line' player that would be over 90 GML points in 18 games, factoring in the game by game stats. Cody is fearless and selfless in his determination and in the hockey world he defines team player. We are happy to have him in our system.

I find this confusing also and is the biggest obstacle in the format IMHO.

It seems apparent, based on our uneven distribution of players on certain teams, that there will be uneven weight given to certain dates over others.

It appears, PO, that in the dates for game 1 for example that you may have a player play twice, and possibly not at all on other days as the NHL doesn't always follow the every other day format.

Exactly. The only way I see where this format could work is if we somehow keep track of all of the totals from players in game one of each series, game two of each series and so on, but this seems like it would be very tough to keep track of as it would have to be done on our own.

Side note - while we are still figuring out the playoff structure

I posted my friends hockey video last year - here is the 2nd one... which made it to canucks.com

http://canucks.nhl.c...s.htm?id=668307

We are heading to Calgary from May 20-26 for the ASHL NA Championships - and are doing another video, so should have another video to post during the dog-days of summer.

Hmm good point. We could set up a google doc or template or whatnot and have one peron specifially track the totals for the submitted playoff rosters from every team, and sperating it into 7 different columns for games 1-7 of their respective series, likely to be done each morning/afternoon as we could just use the PLN from pickup for easier tracking. I would be willing to help out with something like this if necessary as I actually think this could work quite well.

I'm sure PO would be too as he loves doing stuff like this it seems :P

Once the templates are filled in with rosters it wouldn't he too hard to keep track of I don't think.

It took me a moment to see what you guys meant, but i get it, yeah that would be a good idea to look at too, if someone is willing to do it.

For mine, the dates of each of our series games specifically correlate to their NHL counterpart series game dates. The thing of it is that game one of all series will start on opening day of the NHL round and finish at the end of game one for that series..then the days from game one to game two of that series will be counted as 'game two' points...and lastly the 7th game if needed runs from the day after game six to the end of the entire NHL's round 1, in this year its the 13th of May.

That is the way I found to track every NHL players points easily and quickly each morning using pickuphockey the way we do now, and simply adding them up each morning for each of our teams its easy to add 3 days together for each game if you check it daily, which I do..its a 10 minute job same as doing the morning standings. Labour intensive.

And yes: it does lead to one team having specific nightly advantages..that is what makes it different from a series long running total: anything that takes away those specific nightly advantages in essence makes it pointless to change from a series long running total. Like if your trying to smooth out the bumps when the change is being suggested simply to add bumps..then that is defeating the idea.

In the end if we don't like it i am cool with staying as is...and if we prefer to use each players game 1 stats and game two stats and so on all added up: that is way more work than I am interested in, and would like I say, smooth out the bumps that I am trying to add to the road. If you follow my drift.

absolutely!

I am glad you guys volunteered, hehe track your man/hours too just so we know..

I am open to any way of doing it that allows for the longest intrigue in each series. If on night two its 150 to 12 in a series and the rosters are way imbalanced, we know its over. I am looking to add some bumps so that by the 2nd week it could still be 3 games to 1 for the team that would otherwise be 600 points to 100 leading the series. I guess that in the end is what I am aiming for with the suggestion of a switch, 'faint hope' for the overmatched team and intrigue for the close matchups.
