Rumour this morning is Philadelphia already is signing Mason to a 1 year extension

Sign Mason, buy out Bryzgalov.

Sign veteran backup for Mason in case he falters. If he does, then they can go get another goalie via trade or free agency. If not, re-sign Mason and goalie problem finally solved!

Mason is still young..24 if i´m correct and in his 4th or 5th nhl season..thats very imprssive imo
may his problem was that he played for the jackets...even they are strong this season
dont know if he could repeat this awesome rookie season with a team like philly

as for cdcgml....we are already in extension talks with scrivens
but if kuemper has success ...this could be a hard competition between ben and darcy next season

who knows if harding will return soon in minny..well a sad story

What I heard on TSN yesterday when STeve was moved to Philly was they will use the buyout clause in the new CBA to buy out Bryz outside the cap and Then its Mason's job to lose. He has a lot of talent, but went sideways in CBJ. I couldnt justify his 3.33m cap hit for his 35 pool points. that is about a million per win. bleck.

When The Washington Capitals traded for Sergei Gonchar about a week ago da.moose made it quite clear that his team was looking to compete for the cup this season. Fans in Washington had a very exciting deadline day with two trades announced by the league as well as one UFA signing.

Here is what the Capitals General Manager had to say about the deals he made.

To Washington:
Sergei Gonchar
Conditional 2nd round pick 2014

To New York Rangers:
Marcus Foligno
Chris Brown
Dallas 2nd round pick 2013

This trade got us a top offensive defenseman to play on the 2nd pairing. With both Enstrom and Yandle playing on the first pairing our team was lacking offensively when they weren’t on the ice. JakoAdding Gonchar to the lineup was the first piece we felt we needed to add in order to compete with the top teams in the league this season and next season.

The biggest piece we lost in this deal was obviously Marcus Foligno. He is a young man that is showing loads of potential. At this point we believe that Foligno is the furthest into his development of any of our 2009 drafted players outside of Evander Kane. Losing him will hurt long term but we feel we have the pieces in our organization that allowed us to make this move without losing out on too much production in the future. This trade really speaks of the confidence we have in Jakob Silfverberg, Zack Kassian, and Chris Kreider moving forward.

Signing: Tom Kostopoulos/2 years 1.2 million dollars (600k per season)

Come playoff time, teams can never have too much depth. Tom has been in the league for a long time now and has proven what he is capable of. We are very happy to have him as an option in the system and feel comfortable playing him in important playoff situations.

To Washington:
Rene Bourque
Calgary 3rd round pick 2014

To Calgary:
Matt Halischuk
Washington 2nd round pick 2013

This was a trade that I had been discussing with Zen for quite some time. Our organization knows what Bourque can bring to the table. He played for us during the 2010-11 season and scored 27 goals. Since then he has struggled and has been moved a couple of times. Injuries have really hurt him and it was tough watching this happen to a player that was recently part of the Washington Capitals family. We decided that he would still be a great fit and once he recovers will have the opportunity to settle back in with his former teammates in a system that he feels comfortable in. We know that Bourque is a big body that can score and possess the puck in the offensive zone. When we lost Foligno, we thought that an older and more experienced Rene Bourque would be an ideal replacement.

Losing Matt Halischuk stings. He has developed in our system and has always felt like a bit of an underdog. He works so hard and pushes lots of the bigger name players for jobs. He seems to perform best when it matters most. We were planning on bringing him back next season but the Calgary Flames seem to see what we see in Matt. We hope that he flourishes in the Flames system and would love to bring him back to Washington if the opportunity ever arises.

Signing: Jay Pandolfo/1 year 1.2 million dollars

Jay is another player that we have been in negotiations with for quite some time now. He has played with a few of the guys on this team and can log 10 minutes a night in a shutdown role. He has been there before and is the type that will make his biggest contributions the deeper we go into the playoffs.

To Washington:
Andrew Cogliano

To Philadelphia:
Montreal 2nd 2013
Washington 3rd 2013
Carolina 2nd 2014
Calgary 3rd 2014

This was another deal that we had been working on for a while. We knew that if we wanted to compete we needed to have more offensive production from our 3rd line. We wanted a young player that could continue to develop in Washington but someone that was ready to compete in the playoffs this season. It was also important to us that all the trades we made were for players that were under contract next season at a price that we could fit under the salary cap.

There were two players that we pushed very hard for; one of which was Andrew Cogliano. This deal went from what we thought was a strong possibility to a far out chance. The opposite happened with the other deal. There was a point yesterday when we thought we wouldn’t get Cogliano but we might get the other guy. Then it seemed we probably wouldn’t get either guy. Finally close to the end of the night This deal seemed very promising. I was out at a charity event at a casino and my phone died. I thought I was done. I was on the phone with my assistant GM who was on my account on CDC. It was nearing the final minutes on my dad’s phone with terrible wifi connection when I was pushing to get this deal finalized. Strombone was ready to go back on our deal at that time and I was put into a situation where I had to add another 2014 3rd round pick to get it done. With the terrible connection I couldn’t get on my messenger on CDC with the trade confirmation thread ready for my signature until about 9:58 pm when I confirmed the deal. There was less than 90 second to go until the trade deadline and I was ecstatic to get the deal done. Felt like a real NHL General Manager for the night.

All and all, this team is now geared up for the playoffs as well as for next season. We believe that we have improved our team and are much closer to winning a Stanley Cup than we were a week ago.

Curt, how do I get access to all the spreadsheets on google drive? I know I used to have it but now I have to go through page 1 of the thread and it is a pain. Can you set up access for me at this email

whatthenuckgml@gmail.com

Thanks in advance.

It should be the same as before. If you go to each page, they should show up under viewed documents on your My Drive.

I think maybe the access I used to have to the sheets was for a different e-mail address but I have no idea which one...:) Can I change it to the one in my quote? It would be easier for me to have all my google stuff for fantasy hockey in one place.

No deals for the Avs on deadline day tho not for lack of trying. But I feel the team has improved in the past 2 months and we will go into summer looking to continue the rebuild and push for a playoff spot in 2013-14!

It was an unexpectedly busy day couple of days for the Tampa Bay Lightning, with 4 rosters, 3 prospects, and a pick being sent out. Safe to say, the Lightning could be classified as sellers at the deadline. Fan reactions were mixed, ranging from optimism for the future to calls for GM y0shi's head for shipping out fan favourite Patrick Marleau as well as two original CDCGML Lightning, captain Mike Fisher, and top D-man Matt Carle.

Today, GM y0shi addressed the media. He released a brief statement followed by taking a few questions from the media.

What can you tell us about the new players coming into the organization?

What would you say is the direction of the organization moving forward, and what is next?

With that we conclude the press conference.

Adam Cracknell with 2 goals in his first appearance for the Rangers tonight. As the GM who acquired him yesterday, I couldn't be happier.

My team has been relatively quiet lately... at least the teams I'm chasing have been quiet/quieter... but that won't hold up. Need a big effort these last few weeks to get to where I want to be.

Not a huge night points wise, but lots of results went well for the Panthers tonight, huge win for the 'Yotes against the wins keeping OEL's playoff chances alive, STL with the win in the SO so still 5 points from Craw. B)

You are allowed to hold full negotiations with more players now, the restrictions are now lifted. And yes you must continue discussions with the original agent regarding that player. Discussing the same player with a different agent is not allowed.

Official posts coming soon.

but all in all a bad night...only 17 points from 12 Players

Sullivan and Chimera scratches
Scrivens and Mason on the Bench
Erat, Erskine, Larose, Prout and McDonald with 0 Points

New Team Captain Legwand with an Assist and Bouwmeester also

Darcy Kuemper had a solid Game though

Sometimes your goaltending bails you out when your team just isn't clicking up front... tonight was one of those nights for my Jets.

Weber – 2 PIMs = 2 points
Schneider – win, shutout = 20 points
Lapierre – assist, +1, 2 PIMs = 7 points
Elliott – win = 10 points
Total = 39 points

Cory Schneider was fantastic as he posts a shutout, and Brian Elliott picks up a victory, accounting for over 75% of my teams production on the night.
