Primal Optimist
CBJ is looking much improved, and TGC, looking at your lineup in jerseys makes me not feel bad if Klein gets top pair minutes and PP time this year and Sulzer scrapes by with bottom six. ;p

SheaWeber6
HANZAL LANDS IN OHIO The Columbus Blue Jackets were told earlier today about Martin Hanzal's to join their organization for the next four seasons. With the franchise getting one of the biggest names on the market, things look to be headed in the right direction for the club, who now, have made numerous acquitions since new General Manager SheaWeber6 took over last month. "We have made a conscious effort to acquire size, speed and skill since I took over the job," said new GM SheaWeber6. "If you look at who we have brought in since I have taken over, you will notice a common theme. Size. We feel that as an organization, we need to create an identity for our club, and with numerous acquitions over the past month, we feel its time we add some skill to the team as well. We have some great two-way players that can put the puck in the net, but we are still in the search for a bonafide scorer, something that we have been actively pursuing since day one." Reports indicate that the Jackets are actively pursuing the FA market for top end talent, and have been in talks with some high profile names, including Hanzal. "Adding Martin to our club was a huge step in the right direction for us. We were lacking a big two way center to anchor that 2nd line and 2nd PP unit, and we have found our man. We have Joe [Colborne] ready in the wings for a top 6 spot, but we were a little hesitant to give him that 2nd line duty off the bat. We would much rather have him pilot that third line for this upcoming year, and if possible, we would prefer to have him play alongside Tomas Tatar, but only if we can bring in that scorer." Things seem to be going well in Columbus thus far, but there is still a lot of work to do for the Blue Jackets to secure a playoff spot next season. Primal Optimist
From the "Whatever Happened to Old Timey Hockey" file: Well, it seems it packed up and went to Russia. Our concept of Russian players as being greedy, lazy, yet highly skilled, weak players is really only based on the handful good enough to be highly coveted here in North America. When you watch a bit of KHL film, it reminds me of the 80's in the NHL. oh, and what do you think happened to Atlanta Thrashers goalie Mike Garnett...well, he is in Chelybinsk, keeping net for the Traktor, and getting beat down by fellow Canadian Matt Dalton...if you watch this fight, watch the eye gauge at 1m50s ....nasty fight all in all, the refs get abused over there! PS: former Thrasher and King Kip Brennan is the guy with the Mohawk wrecking people.
arby18_
The Habs are believed to have dipped their toes into the Free Agent pool, as rumors suggest that they've sent out as many as four offers. Montreal GM _arby_18 wouldn't confirm these rumors, but he didn't exactly deny them either. Also of interest to the Canadiens is the outcome of the Rick Nash "sweepstakes". While he is firmly entrenched on the Habs top-line for the foreseeable future, his situation IRL is a tricky one and hopefully it will end quickly and painlessly for all parties involved. If any teams looking for goaltending miss out on the free agents that they were after, perhaps they should contact Montreal. While Habs management would love to start the season with a 1A-1B of Niklas Backstrom and Anders Lindback, it is unclear at this point how many starts each goalie will be looking for and if both goalies will be happy to exist in such a system.
