Luongo looks like he's on his way out soon.. the massive poster of him at Gate 16 at @RogersArena has been taken down. http://pic.twitter.com/Vp8Dwoiw

Here's an image of Rogers Arena from October 2010. Gate 16 is clearly visible. There never was a poster of Luongo at that location.

To Florida
Luongo and a 2nd

To Nashville
Versteeg and Kuba, Edler and Ballard

To Vancouver
Shea Weber

Makes sense

i gave u a plus for thinking out side the box but thats an over payment for weber in my eyes.

If Canucks upper management is stupid enough to take down Luongo stuff after some sort of unofficial soft deal then we have a lot bigger problems to worry about.

Who outside of high school would take this serious.

Nice job debunking this bed wetter.

Luongo for Gardiner and one of Kadri or Colbourne and a conditional 7th. Take it or miss the playoffs Burkie.

*Condition on the pick is it goes up one round for every week the offer is on the table.

More of the same pipedreaming out of Onterrible.

First - neither MG, nor Luongo, nor his agent have indicated that Luongo has only accepted to go to Florida - in fact that false report has been specifically refuted by Luongo's agent - people still parroting that have not done their homework, or are simply putting false lobbying fodder into the airwaves.

Second, the Canucks are not going to take an underachieving salary dump in exchange for Luongo - so spare us the Komisarek v2.0 proposals suggesting an undersized 4.5 million dollar center is coming this way. The Canucks are in the market for a third line power center, not a 4.5 million temporary playmaker to take Kesler's place, who is then a misfit in the roster in a few months, and an umovable cap hit. Schroeder is a much, much better short term option.

Dream on Leafs fans, and keep on lowballing...we've heard enough versions of this nonsense already.

Schroeder is average in the AHL at best he not even close KV

Gudbranson, Bjustad? We are dealing with Tallon not Milbury.

That stuff is for cleaning keyboards.

Schroeder is also 21 compared to Versteeg who's 26-27

Look how long Versteeg took to be a decent player in the nhl.

go read up on stuff before you post

When will people learn that samjam99 is just milking his 15 minutes of negative fame for all it's worth and finally stop posting his crap?

Regarding the Canucks
Gillis has hit two home runs in a week.
Schneider re-signed, snuffing offer sheets.
Garrison signed - top four very solid - top six very solid. Good depth.
Team needs limited to a potential top six upgrade - nothing urgent, but positioned capwise to make a bid for Doan.
Adequate players and depth in the system to bridge Kesler injury.
The combination of Brodeur's re-signing in NJ, and terms like the re-upping of Price at 6.5 put Luongo value in stronger perspective.
Gillis in an even firmer negotiating position. Tallon and Florida are much better poker players than Toronto. Tallon is relatively quiet, while owners ok a deal, and Jovo acknowledges the reality that Luongo is and will remain an elite goaltender - not creating deluded expectations in fanbase that Luongo can be acquired for a salary dump. Toronto on the other hand, very weak with their bluffing game, tipping their hand, contradictng themselves, posturing strength, and lacking chips.

I would crap in my slacks if we got Doan.

If the yotes play in phx then Doan stays.

If they do move and he does decide to go elsewhere there will be an epic bidding war with about every Stanley Cup contender.

I would say its a longshot.

Now back to
Luongo

to San Jose
Luongo
Booth

To Van
Clowe
Murray
Griess

I honestly think there is a wildcard team talking to Gillis.
San Jose needs to make a splash if they don't land Nash.

I got a feeling there's a couple wild card teams talkin to him too, I dunno if I would do that deal though. I'd like too see us get at least one really good prospect or fairly young, good player under contract. I really like clowe but I'd see us getting 1 season out of him and him cashing in ufa after his sharks threw him away.

Murray and clowe both signed for a few more years would be a diff story

:picard: Luongo is getting traded. Schneider won the starting job over him plus he just got re-signed to a 3 year contract.

So what? There have been no confirmed reports saying Schneider isn't going anywhere. If no progress is made with Luongo and a deal comes out of nowhere for Cory that knocks Gillys socks off then whose to say he's untradable now?

It's Gillis. And Gillis said it himself if the right offer doesn't come around for Luongo then he's fine with keeping both goalies.

I have been surprised at Burke and Tallon's unwillingness to make a reasonable offer . We all know Lui is an all star goalie and his cap hit is more than reasonable for what he brings.

Perhaps the Leafs had some cap issues but with the cap going up I think they can make a deal . The Panthers may have Theodore but in my opinion he is a full rung below Luongo in talent and durability.

So it comes down to the term. I know the term is bad but many us figured out that after the 6 main years Lui's salary starts to tank and he will have little incentive to stick around. Even if he wanted to the team can stick him on waivers to get rid of him and the cap hit.

I guess they are waiting to see what the new NBA looks like in terms of waivers and cap hits. I still believe Luongo's contract will have to be grandfathered. Watching all these 13 year deals happening right now makes me think the new CBA will have a cap on length of contract so they are getting them all under the wire before its illegal.

Once that hurdle is cleared, I guess its about asking price. I would like to know more about what Gillis' bottom line is because it doesn't seem to be anywhere near Burke's -and he desperately needs a goalie.

Yeah, if Doan signs here, you won't be the only one crapping in your slacks. That'll be happening straight across the NHL.
San Jose is a tough buy - the best options have some avoidable cap hits or expiring contracts. Their prospects, meh.
Only two options I'd do

Luongo for Couture straight up
Luongo, Booth for Clowe, Couture.

If no Nash, then no Couture, no splash.
