Shea Weber as a Canuck: For and Against

Shea Weber as a Canuck   192 members have voted

  1. 1. If available and interested, could/would the Vancouver Canucks sign Shea Weber?

    • Yes. He would immediately solidfy our blueline for years to come and bring size, talent, and ferocity that has been lacking
    • No. The Canucks don't have either the cap space or the need for Shea Weber. Our defense is perfectly fine and will take us to the Cup Final and beyond. What's with all these Weber Lovers anyway?

The Shea Weber to the Canucks posts have officially overtaken the trade Ballard, Raymond, and (insert player here) posts.

While the possibility of Weber leaving Nashville has hypothetically increased with the exodus of Suter, having been brought to arbitration last year seems to be the clear indicator of his intention to move on from Nashville.

His combination of size, ability, brutality, and hockey sense ensure that he will be the most sought after free agent in recent history, if he becomes a UFA or Poile decides to trade him.

The Vancouver Canucks are as possible a landing spot for him, as any of the other 29 teams in league.

IMO, in the top five. This has nothing to do with him being a hometown boy. The Sicamous Canucks?

The organization knows how to treat players and makes offers that far extend just the salary. They are a perennial contender with various award winning players. Winning the President's Trophy two years in a row doesn't hurt either.

I don't know if there is a team as hungry for the Cup as the Canucks. Having been so close and losing out does that to you.

However other teams offer just as good a chance to get the Cup.

Suter and Parise chose personal reasons to go to Minnesota, could Weber chose the same?

What do you all think? And why?

The only 2 cons are 1) Cap hit and 2) Ability to aquire him

If he is avaliable we better go after him.

Offer him whatever he wants, just wait for him to request it then go make cap space for it.

I would love to see Weber in a Canuck uniform but I am also a not much of a dreamer, and the reality of Weber going to the Canucks is very slim.

we aren't going to be able to afford him, people need to be more realistic. Weber is not coming here

I vote for the 3rd option, a little of column A and a little of column B

if we get Doan, it'll be very hard to sign Weber as a UFA next year. If Nashville does not lock up weber long term soon, they will have to trade him, then it will be whoever is willing to give up the most will get him

It would be really REALLY nice to have him, but we don't NEED him.

A single guy with a caphit of 8 million is not going to screw us. If the Canucks really want Weber, and they probably should, they could probably find a way to make that happen. Maybe even without completely selling the farm, too.
