Stephen Walkom to Ryan Kesler, "Did he put his stick in ya'? I'll keep an eye on him."

Don't think he kept a very close eye on them :picard: Anyways L.A. vs. the Devils didn't have even close to the amount of hatred or drama. Know wonder it sucked,

Lordy - that's the closest I've come to watching highlights of the Boston series (I can't even watch the games we won in that round :( )

But great find OP. That must have been a heck of a hard series to officiate. Between the Canucks' diving and the Bruins' goonery and the fact that one wrong call could lose a team the Stanley Cup, there was a lot of pressure on the officials.

Your giving them way too much credit. The only pressure officials have in hockey is which infraction to ignore and which penalty to make up.

The Stanley Cup Finals are easy to officiate if they do it right and call real penalties.

LA Kings won the cup this year off a terribly reffed game 6... Bernier's hit was right to be a game misconduct, but a 5 minute major? Give me a break. 2 minutes in the box, tops...

3 goals due to that call.. That's how you win Stanley Cups now adays apparently

But I love Lappy's trolling grin, highlight of the video for me. How can you not want to punch that? :towel:

I personally felt Bernier's hit was worthy of the 5 minute, although the missed call on Stoll would have never resulted in this hit in the first place.

As for the reffing - it's easy for us to blame the refs, but we have no idea how hard and what it takes to be a good ref. Just like we don't know what it takes to be a NHL player and go through slumps, injuries, etc.

"the free ones are over"

I didn't know there were free penalties in the NHL rule books. What a flipping joke.

Guess the bruins were getting 5 free ones a period? What did they make up to justify giving the edge to the bruins?

Nucks were only diving cause the refs were missing penalties. Natural reaction.

Calling the 5 minute major automatically results in a game misconduct per the Boarding rule. Not the other way around. Had the official called a minor, there would have been no game misconduct. A player can however be tossed via a match penalty if the boarding incident was not that severe (resulting in a minor penalty), but was deemed a deliberate attempt to injure an opponent.

That's easy for you to say if you aren't reffing. With guys selling calls, diving, and the game being so fast you have to make split-second decisions

Fu*king refs. This league needs to figure it out. Rules change depending on the importance of the game? Oh yeah, that makes sense!
