which will happen sooner: lockout ends/Lu gets traded?

Gillis blew this one. He was waiting for a deal that just wasn't coming for Lu this past Summer. Other owners, and their GMs are not stupid. First strikes are the usual ones already brought up. Lu's contract length and his declining stats, especially playoff performance.

But the kicker is that his contract is going to be an even heavier albotros after the new CBA comes down if the rumours are correct....that all of those protracted contracts will have to be honoured, all the way through. IE. The Canucks or whoever has the misfortune of holding Lu's contract at the time, will have to pay out those final 4 or 5 years, even if Lu decides to retire early (which was the unspoken understanding)

I think a bag of pucks would have been better than no deal this past Summer, just to get rid of that contract. But Gillis stubbornly held out for some fantasy deal that was never coming.

I fear that after the agreement, if this clause is indeed in there, the Canucks will either have to shoulder both goalie contracts, or eventually, and reluctantly, trade Cory if they want to free any money up for skaters.
