Yeah, Gillis must be pretty high on the guy, heading out there mid season to give him a look and accidentally spark up rumors in Washington. Yale is heading to OT right now in the Frozen Four. Once out, Laganiere can start thinking about his future.
Here's my recent post from the College/Major Junior Free Agents
Giving this one a bump as Yale could be out if they lose their next game:
This may or may not affect us when looking at current NHL depth (like Jussi Jokinen) as if they do want to sign more college UFAs or overseas prospects they can have their contracts start next season.
If Yale loses this weekend - forward Antoine Laganiere will select a NHL team quickly.
Laganeire's advisor Phillippe Lecavalier says the #Canucks are big time in the mix for his client.
Lecavalier says the #Canucks have watched his client closely the last 2 years.
And they win, so we'll have to wait for another day to see what happens on that front. For us, DeKeyser is another left handed D when we have a fair number of those, so he wasn't as high on our list to sign. Sustr as a right handed shot was more pressing, and we had Taker at our prospects camp this past summer as an option if we did want more prospect depth.
DeKeyser will fit in with Detroit though, and be brought up to work with the system over time. They do need to build a better defensive base so this will help them out if he does well.
