Per John Shannon @JSportsnet Bob McKenzie confirms as well. @TSNBobMcKenzie : "Dan DeKeyser has chosen DET" For those who don't know, Dan DeKeyser is the most sought after free agent from the NCAA this year. A big defensive defensemen who grew up in Michigan was playing for Western Michigan's NCAA team. He also spent some time in the BCHL with the Trail Smoke Eaters. Would be nice to see if he turns out a Matt Gilroy or Justin Schultz after all this hype, but it's hard to compare since DeKeyser is a defensive dmen and not sure how many highly sought after dmens were defensive skaters... Offensive defenseman who can run a powerplay, but also good in his own end. 4/5 type defender if he pans out.
