POPULAR

Was the first day of the 13/14 hockey season
People were excited, some beyond reason.
The pvr's were set up for all the other shows.
Until June, hockey dominates, everyone knows.

Everyone has their favorite team to cheer for
Some have two or three, some even more.
Bandwagon jumpers will be out in force
When their team losses they jump off of course.

I don't cheer for anyone but the Cancuks
They skate so fast and hit lots of pucks.
Daniel and Henrik make most go in,
If Kesler is in beast mode he can help us win.

We have a new coach and new players too
Young and old they will work together on cue.
This season promises surprises galore
Hold tight to your seat, keep your feet on the floor;

Hockey is finally here again after so long
Maybe next year I will write a song.
But for this year a poem will do
Fans stand united, whether many or few!!!

I do not like poems.
Except for hockey haikus
Because they are short.

I did put that it was a poem in the thread title so not sure why you even clicked it then Tre Mac. I love Haiku as well but this is what I did for something to do this morning.

what moves you through
escapes through you
and part remains
and stays apart

never be embarrassed by your poems - they are signets of realization and not all are profound or even interesting (just read through all the crap that the ancient poets wrote before something comes through that is actually interesting).

but if you want to erase, edit the post and wipe it out.

This is why I rarely post on this site.... Unstable individuals who flame any and all posts!!! The poem was a good read... It made me chuckle...

Bush league fans have made Luongo the scapegoat for Vancouver's shortfall... Typical...

Good job, don't let the negative remarks deter you.

Good effort and message in the poem.

I don't think he'd be too concerned if you did, considering the quality of your writing.

I really enjoyed that, thanks. Any effort to get us all excited for the game is alright by me.

Haters gonna hate
They don't appreciate
Would rather waste their time
Than appreciate the gift of rhyme.

Season starts tonight,
for the good' ol' blue-green-white.
They're ready to brawl
and give it their all
it's gonna be outta sight!

When I wrote this, it was just because I was so excited realizing it was opening day. I did it in a few minutes just to put that excitement somewhere so I could focus on non-hockey things (very difficult to do!!). My husband laughs at me that I am more excited then he is. I appreciate the good thoughts and ignore the others. I also like the poems others are writing. Today is the day and it is going to be a long day until game time. Here's hoping for an amazing season!!

If last night's a barometer of what this season will bear;
The loss on that season game opener;
Though early to say or shed a tear;
I'd be first to say "we'll just get 'em next year".
