(Proposal) GAME PLAN: WIN THE CUP

Recommended Posts

Hire John Stevens as head coach

-He has been apart of LA and won a cup with them. He could give us experience and maybe take us to LA's level and win a cup.

Buyout LW David Booth

___________________________________________________________________

Vancouver: LW Chris Higgins, VAN 2nd(36)

For

Boston: LW Louie Eriksson

BOS: Eriksson has fallen out of the top 6 in Boston due to Reilly Smith becoming a top 6 player. He's not suited for a bottom 6 role either and they get some much needed cap space.

VAN: We get a top 6 winger who has had success with the Sedin's in the past and can add some offense to our team. Get the Sedin's going again.

____________________________________________________________________

Vancouver: RW Zack Kassian, D Ryan Stanton, VAN 1st(6th)

For

Florida: FLA 1st(1st)

FLA: They are shopping their 1st. This gives them young pieces to work with and gives them an option to draft Ehlers, who Tallon is very high on. Kassian gives them a developing power forward, and Stanton gives them a young solid defenseman who can develop into to top 4 material.

VAN: Gives us a chance to get a new franchise player.

____________________________________________________________________

Vancouver: D Jason Garrison, RW Jannik Hansen, G Eddie Lack

Winnipeg: LW Evander Kane, WIN 2nd(39th), WIN 2015 2nd

WIN: Jets have apparently made Kane available. This is a good package to get him. Despite what people have been saying, Garrison wasn't that bad last year. Our whole team sucked but he was decent. Hansen gives them depth and a PK specialist. And Lack gives them a new young goaltender to compete with Pavelec and possible take over the starting spot from him.

VAN: We get a young winger who has been a 30 goal scorer before. He has apparent attitude problems but he has played well for the teams he has been on. Could add a lot to our offense.

Draft D Aaron Ekblad 1st overall

-Most scouts believe he is ready to step into the NHL right away. Gives us a franchise defenseman, something we have been lacking for a long time.

Because he isn't a franchise player like Ekblad? Or projected to be one.

Not everyone has to be a franchise player. Guys like kassian are great third line players who you need to win. Give the kid time. He's only like 22.

If Kassian is going to be a 3rd liner then trading him would be a no brainer. Grenier could be a 3rd line power forward.

I would gladly do that trade for the top overall pick, not sure Florida would though. I bet they would get better offers.

Boston traded Seguin for Erikson, I strongly doubt they would trade him for Higgins and a 2nd.

Hiller is not dependable, he lost out to two rookies this year. I wouldn't offer him that money.

It's a well thought out and written post, kudos for sure, but I'm not sure Florida or Boston would go for it and I wouldn't go for Hiller personally.

And Florida is a young team. That trade gives them pieces that win cups. Its essentially a top 6 PWRFRWD , a top 4 d-man and a potential 1st line winger for a franchise defenseman. I think they would bite.

Eriksson is expendable now. Plus they want to clear up cap space, so I think they will be willing to move him. Maybe switch the 2nd to Jensen and add a pick coming back from them.

And Hiller wasn't that bad, he's a good insurance policy if Markstrom doesn't pan out. He would still give us a chance to win.

Kassian has the potential to play in the top 6, depending on his development, he's not going anywhere. He was one of our better forwards in the 2nd half of the season.
