Gstank29
It just seems like the perfect fit for us. Victoria kid, under than age of 25, PMD and a PP specialist. Like i said in another thread IF Barrie is available i'm pushing hard to try and aquired his services. He would solidify are d-core for many years to come and is excatly what this team is lacking.Just think our d-core would beTanev 25Barrie 24Hutton 22Sbisa 25Edler 30VancouverBarrieColoradoCasselsHamhuis2016 2nd

Blueberries
It's interesting to see what the Avs would want. Usually a team in this situation would ask for prospects who are almost ready and still have years left before they become RFA's. In the Avs cause they don't need anymore prospects they have a ton of young talent that are ready to win. Their back-end is weak and losing Barrie takes away their only puck mover. So I'll say to get Barrie for the Canucks it would take:HuttonHamhuis2016 1st
Fateless
why do we want this guy? If he's so good, why would Colorado trade him?We want him because he fills a huge void that the Canucks have - namely a #1 defenceman who will fit into our up and coming core. Barrie is still young but putting up excellent numbers both 5 on 5 and on the powerplay.Colorado is struggling and looking to trade high-value players to stock up their draft cupboard. Barrie is going to be up for an strong payday (I'd estimate around 5-6 million).

Simply because we're giving up two of our current top 4 to pick up a top 2 while still giving up our 1st rounder. This is going to cause more damage than it fixes and I think Hutton can become a Barrie-type player in a few years anyways.

Let's get Duchene too.Barrie and Duchene to Van.what goes back?Too much, I don't think the Canucks should go after Duchene - we have a lot of rookies who are going to be fighting for spots next year and we need to make room for them. Defensive depth is all we need to add.
Delta76
sounds good then. Let's get Duchene too.Barrie and Duchene to Van.what goes back?I think that will be too much for us to handle. To get Duchene and Barrie we would probably have to give up Horvat/Virtanen, 2 top 4 d and some high picks. They will want a T4 D to replace Barrie plus whatever else they're asking, a T4D if what they want from Duchene, plus probably a quality center to replace him. We don't have the depth for both of them. One maybe but not both.Would probably look likeEdlerHuttonHorvatGaunce 1st, 2nd?
Delta76
do they need a goalie?I'm not really sure, Varlamov(sp) seems inconsistent to me so maybe Demko wold interest them.

If he can translate his college game into the NHL - he'll be a future vezina candidate. Not worth the risk of trading him or Hutton in my opinion. There, now that's more fair. go back to your Colorado board please.
DownUndaCanuck
I think we really need a shutdown defenceman on the right side first. Suddenly we've got some puck movers in Subban and Hutton but no real physical shutdown guy. Barrie is just another small guy like Weber and Bartkowski, the only difference is that he's a swift puck mover and point machine.I wouldn't like to see Barrie and Hutton on the same pairing though. They're both great passers and skaters but both need a solid shutdown defenceman as a partner. That being said, any defensive star power is needed on this piss-thin Canucks blueline. He's scoring at a 50 point pace for the last 3 seasons. That's scary. We'd have to give some defensive power back though just for depth purposes.TO COL: Hamhuis + Subban + Gaunce + 2nd round pickTO VAN: BarrieIf they want a bit more, give them Shinkaruk instead of Gaunce. Hamhuis fills Barrie's current minutes, Subban will fill his future minutes and Gaunce gives them an NHL-ready 3rd liner who can probably score 10-15 goals this season IMO.I wouldn't be willing to give up much more than that but you just know there'll be teams out there who will throw the ship at him. He's good, but he's not that good. Regardless, this is a nice defence to go forward with:Edler - BarrieHutton - TanevSbisa - WeberBartkowski
DownUndaCanuck
A Duchene + Barrie package would be nice, but we'd have to fill their holes AS WELL as give them extra value.TO VAN: Duchene + BarrieTO COL: Hamhuis + Subban + McCann + Virtanen + VbrataI probably wouldn't even do that, but this lineup is pretty sickeningly good: Sedin - Sedin - HansenBaertschi - Duchene - BurrowsShinkaruk - Sutter - HigginsDorsett - Horvat - PrustGaunce Edler - BarrieHutton - TanevSbisa - WeberBartkowski

In this case, if you take out Virtanen, and replace him with Guance, we agree 100% If we were going to keep Virtanen and throw them Gaunce we'd probably have to give a 2nd round pick too, but I'd do that nonetheless. Essentially, giving up a lot of quantity with a bit of quality for not much quantity but lots of quality. With those trades in mind, our lineup in about 3-5 years would look like this:Baertschi - Duchene - Virtanen (hopefully those wingers end up first liners)Sedin - Sedin - BoeserShinkaruk - Horvat - HansenUFA - Sutter - UFA Hutton - TanevUFA - BarrieEdler - Sbisa
