[Report] Nick Ritchie suspended 2 games

Marchand would get his butt kicked for doing that to any other star in the league. Plus the fact that Sedin is bigger than him, the refs probably watched the whole sequence and said " learn how to stand up for yourself , the smallest guy in the league is pushing you around."

I disagree in this case.  Perry was skating backwards into Roszival.  Perry was not crosschecked into the boards, and neither was it a hard cross-check.  It was just an average play, and IMO could potentially have gone uncalled by the refs.  We see crosschecks all the time get let go.

I can see standing up for your teammates, especially a top player.  Sucker punch, no way.  And, considering it was an average offense, and nothing particularly dirty or suspension-worthy, why would Roszival bother dropping the gloves?  Ritchie overreacted, IMO, and I am getting tired of the constant (at least for teams not based in Vancouver) rush to fight after every big hit gets thrown.  Even last night, after Hutton threw his nice hit, someone was trying to get him to fight (Connauton, IIRC).

That doesn't happen nearly as much as it used to, and besides those are the good fights, the ones that actually have something  to do with the game,

Vets need to watch out for these rookie tough guys who are  trying to prove themselves,

Remember Roman Polak and Darnell Nurse........(shudders)......now THAT was overreacting,

But for Christsakes, we didn't even need a penalty on the original play, let alone a suspension , The NHL think penalties and suspensions are the answer to everything, they aren't all you end up with is tentative players who are thinking too much and borring games, they don't miss the salary they probably LOVE getting a chance to rest durring the marathon season, so who really takes the penalty?

We do, it decreases the entertainment value of the product. The NHL board of governors are so ignorant and out of touch with what they are trying to sell it's not even funny.
