He actually really had a good first and second period(minus the penalty in the second). He had an awful third. Expectation was too high on this kid and rightfully so. As a returnee and an NHL loaned player he should've been a lot better, no question. But expecting him to produce was a mistake and it showed.

A world Junior tournament does NOT define what a player will become in the NHL. That's all I'm saying. Instead of bashing the kid when his confidence is at an all time low I would assume. Us Canucks fans should support him. You haters a re ridiculous.

Really a bad(no horrendous) tournament for Jake but I will still be a big Jake supporter and believe he will still be a good NHL player for us.

Jake takes a two penalties in one shift while Canada is on the PP! Good lord. Finland takes the lead with 30 seconds left on his penalty.. And that was the game winner

Or maybe the coach wants a line change? If you're gassed on a 20 second shift you shouldn't even play at all. Mostly everyone can last 20 seconds....

Everyone knows Jake's IQ is low, its been noted since he was in junior, he also had a rating of 3/5 IQ when he was drafted, why is everything about his IQ? That's not the player he is. He is a straight line player, who shoot the puck and hit everything. That's what everyone should focus on and not his IQ. You can't teach IQ, you either have it or you don't.

I don't know why Virtanen is the one screening the goalie on the PP. This is not a bash on him but he's terrible at it. I'd rather have him on the left wing on the face off circle taking one timers/shots like this.

It's quite worrisome for me anyways that he's not hitting guys, like everyone knows, his strength is his physicality. Especially since it was a physical game today. I want to see more of it.

Terrible first and second period but probably played his best period in the third.

This is a perfect game for Virtanen to stand out. It's a physical kind of game and so far he looks scared to hit... At least there's 2 more periods. Hopefully he can step up.
