Gross!!!! One of my least favourite hockey players ever! Used to actively cheer against the Sens simply because of him.

I’m just waiting for the “trade Horvat” brigade to come out of hiding.
lol there's been a group of people steadily banging that drum since the summer. They're definitely not in hiding.

I dunno, he didn't have to say anything is the thing. Bruce is on an expiring deal, at pushing 70 he was never going to be a long-term option here, doesn't take a whole lot to put those puzzle pieces together.
I don't see value in blasting your coach in the press.
He would have to entirely stop doing interviews. He was asked pretty direct questions. Declining to answer is almost worse. Maybe he should let PA take those questions. The man is a wizard at answering questions while still saying nothing.

This management group has been pretty good at avoiding leaks and perhaps they talk a bit less than Benning did? I see that as a good think, eventually lip service gets old.
Probably said too much about Boudreau too, some things should be kept more in house.
Agreed
I think the comments regarding Bruce are because he became so popular so quickly. Hoping to quiet some of the uproar (good luck lol) for when we do eventually move on from him.

So the same ol sign him or trade him bit that we've been talking about forever
Rutherford needs to talk less
I think he agrees with you lol! The interview started with the hosts saying how excited they were about the new (Rogers) deal. They joked about how JR would get to talk to them more. JR sounded less than enthused about that to say the least.
I had a good chuckle listening to that part.

I thought I heard on Hockey night in canada that Jimmy R just did his best Burkie impersonation and went into the locker room and told the whole team that he wasn't going to fire the coach, that it was on the players to figure out.
that was last Saturday
today is Monday
what could possibly have happened in 2 days?
Nothing I guess? I still get that same vibe. I just don’t think they’re intending on re-signing Bruce. I doubt they’ll fire him unless it’s to get “their guy” in there sooner than next year.
-
He also said that the players need to be held accountable and that they might have to do something to get their attention. It certainly wasn't a glowing review of Bruce but I got the sense that it's the players who will feel the brunt of this (for now anyway).

The longer we hang around the better!
Rourke will heat up as he shakes off more rust. Home crowd doesn’t hurt either!

Nickleback needs to be banned from Rogers Arena.
Probably the most appropriate goal song for this year if we're being honest.

The dcorp needs to be fixed, everyone knows that. However, I don't think they've been the issue so far this season.
I don't think there is one issue. People can't agree on a direction for the team because there isn't one obvious issue to be fixed. There are a bunch of things wrong and people can't agree which things are most important.

Marner is better defensively, younger, has a better track record of producing offense, and will likely continue to as Miller declines, he doesn't just benefit from playing with Matthew's he's a large part of their mutual success
Put him with Petey and he'd explode, put him with Horvat and he'd probably explode, Miller is not the superior player
I hear this logic but I don't think he would change things enough. He'd make our cap situation worse and therefore it would be more difficult to fix the rest of the team. I guess you get out from his contract a few years earlier so there's that?

JT isn't going anywhere. The only way he is moved is if he has a big season but the team stays in the basement. It would be quite remarkable for both of those things to happen at the same time.
I like the idea of getting younger faster and better defensively. Marner just doesn't feel like a good fit for this team though.

a rebuild should be endless, an organization should always be changing, always be trying to improve
Yep true.
Would be nice to start that process lol

From of goal / point totals standpoint alot of guys are off to solid starts. Pears could have some value at this rate.
If we want to continue re tooling all our lives I would use pears boeser and horvat as trade bait. Unless horvats signing around RNH deal I'm moving him
The endless re-tool is my greatest fear. I want the team to commit to something. No more of this "we want to stay competitive while we re-tool some things". Build or compete. They need to pick one.
Build seems more logical to me but anything is better than just being mediocre forever.

Don’t know much about him but I do notice he’s pretty small.
He is? He's almost EXACTLY (to the pound) league average. Unless you're referring to height I guess. I never understood why height mattered so much to hockey fans. Imagine if UFC had height classes rather than weight classes lol!

The league has put such an emphasis on “puck moving” D that regular old reliable defenders are almost rare now. I would find it funny if it weren’t such a problem for our team.
