The way Kassian has been playing lately, he should get a shot with the Sedins. He's done enough to earn it by now IMO. If they can put a guy like Dalpe with them, why not Kassian? He was awesome in that brief stint he played with them when Vigneault was here. I know the guy could produce if he could just get the opportunity. I hope it happens soon.

While I appreciate Torts passion and dedication to the team, with standing up for the team and all, and agree that what the Flames coach did was stupid, what Torts did was way out of line. Pushing his way into the Calgary dressing room while screaming and raging like a madman? WTF? That is plain stupid and inexcusable. This guy needs serious help with his anger problem.

Why bother Gillis? You already done enough to "reset" the organization haven't you? The team has all the pieces to be a contender and is fully set for a deep run. Don't do anything hasty now, better to continue with the wait and see approach that has been so successful so far.

Sorry to make a stupid post, but I just have to say this. Last night I had a weird dream about Tanev. I was hanging out with him and his family - his wife and two young kids at their country house. I found out in the dream that he was native or part native and I was surprised to hear that, I always thought he was white. lol. Anyways I got really bored out of mind being around him and I wanted to leave. It was an unpleasant dream, almost like a nightmare. Then I woke up and when I fell back asleep I was with Tanev again. I was like oh no, not this again! lol.

I'm sick of hearing excuses from Gillis like "its hard to make deals in the NHL today". Other GM's are getting it done, there's plenty of opportunity out there. I think Gillis' lack of trading/signing is more a reflection of his own incompetence and inability to negotiate deals, rather than the general state of today's NHL. For example, in the other thread about how the Canucks tried to deal Edler to the Red Wings, he asked for 4 pieces. WTF?? Be reasonable. He probably misses out on many opportunities because he demands or expects way too much. Trading is not that complicated. You have to give to get. You trade your most expendable asset for what you need most, of equal value. If you cannot be reasonable you will get nothing done, and no one will want to do business with you.

I don't think Gillis is cut out to be a GM. He is too damn passive. He just likes to "wait and see" for years and years. Well sorry to rush things, but we don't have all the freaking time in the world. The core is aging, the window is closing, and it is painfully obvious that there are significant issues with scoring on this team, and that is not something new. Its been like that for 3 years. We need a guy like Burke, a man who is more aggressive and not afraid to take action and make moves once in a while when necessary, and has the business savvy to pull it off and get good, equitable returns. Building a hockey team is a process, but there has to be some progress at some point. The progress under Gillis has been glacial. We need to accelerate this process and be a bit creative in finding ways to get things done.

Yeah anything that is negative or critical about Luongo, or isn't showering him with praise for being so classy or a consummate professional, or isn't hailing him as an elite goaltender is non-relevant crap.

I don't get why there are so many doubters that Gaunce will make the team this year. He has excelled in the minors, put up very good numbers, was great in the last play-offs and was great for team Canada. He is ready to take the next step. People here act like he still has major weaknesses he needs to work on. He would definitely be a better option than Schroeder because of his size, and he has the skill to back it up too. He is also very mature for his age. There will also be greater chances for youth to be injected into the line-up this season too under Torts, and management wishes to see this too, as they want to get younger and need some prospects to step up to the plate since we're spent right to the cap.

Tanev is a solid d-man, to be fair. But he doesn't bring enough to command 2 mil. If he thinks he does, he must be having delusions of grandeur.

So the two sides are gonna play a game of chicken until one of them backs down.
