  1. Yeah, I hope it's false. Although we have no idea what the middleman team could be. It seems PHI or PIT desire Kesler. So unless mystery team is offering a HUGE return, Kesler to Chicago is frightening.
  2. There is rumor Chicago is in the mix for Kesler too. Possibly in a blind three way deal.
  3. That's a surefire trade towards mediocrity. We need someone who at least has the potential to become a 1st/2nd line forward. Sutter looks like he's going to evolve into a depth player. Kesler affords us a rare opportunity to add to our forward core. We can't lose it on Sutter.
  4. I can't see Philly giving up Coutrier and Simmonds for Edler. Kesler must be part of that deal or Holmgren is run out of town.
  5. I hope Kesler goes to Philly. I am not excited about Sutter coming back from Pit. Nothing against Sutter, but his ceiling doesn't leave a lot of room for potential restocking of our core.
  6. Trade Deadline and Trade Deadline Eve need to be official Canadian holidays. I am not getting any work done right now.
  7. From team 1040: Philly is reportedly making an aggressive push for Kesler now and showing heavy interest in Edler.
  8. To be fair, he didn't fall out if love with the team/city. It was decided for him that he's no longer the guy here. And certain assurances were made that he would be moved. If he didn't mentally check out from the city, he wouldn't be human. The guy just wants to play hockey.
  9. Couple of posts already too. This could be a shooting gallery both ways.
  10. Yeah! And change the farm to the Utica Thousandaires. Would be pretty apt.
  11. So, torts goes with Lack because he gives the team the best chance to win today. So how does that explain starting the Sedins and Burrows on the PP? That doesn't jive with his mantra of going with the top performers getting rewarded in the moment.
  12. And part of running a business is the business of people. Lack would have zero ill will not getting the call for this game. But antagonizing the fans and your supposed number one goalie? How is that good for business.
  13. Clearly the money is more important to him? No, playing the game he loves and trying to win is important to him. Give your head a shake, man.
  14. No, that's exactly what I was interested in hearing, so I appreciate the thought-out response. Although it would still be a difficult trade to pull off (but what trade isn't?) I could see a deal in which the Canucks easily take on $7-8m in a couple players (considering how many players do and will earn in the $4m range by then) leaving a $6-7m bump in salary to the opposing team. Which is not totally unrealistic especially if the cap continues to rise in the scenario you outlined. It's so easy to jump to the idea that the Canucks will need to unload $14m and not take any in return. It's easy to live in the present day and assume things will be the same way forever. It is difficult to predict the landscape of the future, but that's one of the things that makes being a sports fan so interesting. Thanks for the response!
  15. First off, it's really hard to tell on the internet the tone of a person's message, but please note that this is not a sarcastic/caustic response, but rather a real question. It is difficult to trade one player who earns 7 million dollars in this day. What is a scenario in which you can see two players at a combined $14m/season being moved to a team? Especially if they continue at today's rate of production. I think they'll have a minor bounce back from this season, but it's pretty evident their dominant days are behind them. I find it very unlikely for that to ever happen so would be interested to hear if there is a situation this would be feasible and how it could go down.
  16. The Luongo trade was supposed to be his signature trade. But obviously that never happened. Now this one will define his legacy. My guess is he doesn't pull the trigger again so he doesn't have to face the consequences.
  17. Truth. Considering that Santorelli was more luck than anything. A great signing sure, but he wasn't even signed to be an NHLer.
  18. Things could get interesting come Monday. I really believe that even if Gillis had a deal on the table for Lu or Kesler, he wouldn't pull the trigger on it before the Heritage Classic. They've already had some bad press with the game. And after selling their images everywhere promoting the game, and making profit on the hundreds of Luongo and Kesler jerseys sold to fans, this would be killer. Things could heat up immediately after Sunday so stockpile on your popcorn.
  19. I think the Heritage Classic is a blessing. The Canucks desperately need some change. And it's (so far) not coming from management. So a change in scenery, though superficial, is SOMETHING. Might not be much, but it is some change. The jerseys are different. The dressing room will be different. The atmosphere will be different. We need anything kind of change to help the team out of the funk.
  20. I heard if there's any chance of precipitation the roof will not be open. Which is a bummer sounds like a good chance it'll be closed. Wow, I'd be over the moon in this day and age if we even get 2!
  21. I think the strategy was pretty good. Schroeder, Diaz, Higgins, guys who are among the least amount of pressure in the team right now. Still no dice
