This pick will take time to develop, but I am optimistic that he can be a solid 2-way D man if developed properly.
-
Hope he develops into a Dustin Byfuglien type of player.

Canucks and CDC both. Been a great evening for the future of this team.
Kudos to Arizona for really screwing it up and led to us taking the perfect guy at the perfect spot.

Do you think Quinn Hughes will make the Canucks line up next season?

Did Pettersson win Guldpucken?
I haven't seen anything from the kind of sources that would normally cover such an announcement (ie: Swedish sports media), but did notice this on Wiki today:
"Pettersson was named the SHL Rookie of the Year, Forward of the Year, and was awarded Guldpucken"
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elias_Pettersson
2017–18 Elias Pettersson Växjö Lakers C 1 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guldpucken
And also noticed this video:TSN panel says Pettersson won Sweden's "Player of the Year" award and specifies this was "for any league, including players in the NHL."
Which definitely sounds like they're talking about Guldpucken.
Looking around some of the Swedish media sources, I'm just not seeing anything in the way of an announcement or confirmation. And this would be a pretty big deal. Guldpucken pretty much only goes to NHL players since they became eligible in recent years. So it would be a huge deal if they awarded Guldpucken to an SHL player (never mind a 19-year-old rookie).
So I'm thinking it's pretty unlikely Pettersson has won Guldpucken (not yet anyway).
And I believe the award isn't scheduled to be announced until sometime around June 24th or 25th.
But those are definitely some interesting sources (Wiki, TSN) suggesting that Pettersson has already won it.
As much as I would like to see EP win it, I think it should go to either Hedman or Backstrom. Hedman for the Norris and Backstrom was a key player to bring the cup to Washington.

I don’t understand why so much negativity on a 20 year old, smart and calming defenseman who has a good season playing professionally for the first time in his career.

For those of you who are mad, Jokiharju didn’t make it as well.

Will we see EP vs. Bo next at the WC? Will Bo be tasked to shut him down when Canada plays Sweden?

Tough to lose out in a sweep, but Tri-City Americans are taking the WHL by storm. I have no idea how they were only a wild card team.

Please don't. The kid has played more than enough hockey this season. Prospect camp, junior world championship, champions hockey league, full league schedule + play-offs into the finals. He should give his body some rest and start working out with Daniel and Henrik in the summer to be prepared for next year.
The Sedins have retired, thus this summer they won't be doing the kind of work out which would prepare one to get ready for the NHL season. EP will likely receive advice from the two as well as all the trainers and staffs and develops the best kind of work out program for him.

Doesn’t need a monstrousrun really, if he just Keeps up with himself and his 1+PPG he Will be up there
Because his team is so dominant, they probably wins the final in less than 6 games. Fewer games played means he will have fewer chances to pass the Sedins.

If he goes on a monstrous run in the finals, he could be ahead of both Henrik and Daniel. But I don't think he will catch Axel Holmstrom. I looked up Holmstrom. He is a 7th round pick of the Red Wings in 2014. He averages less than 0.5 PPG in the SHL and AHL regular seasons, but that one playoffs he had in 2014-15 was more of a surprise. Looking at his stats, he seems to raise his game in the playoffs.

It's tough for Edler too. He has been playing with the twins ever since he entered the NHL and I can tell in the last few days in the interviews with Edler that he is barely holding the tears back.

We gave our fairwells to a pair of Swede who sweat and bled for the Canucks for 18 years. We will see the arrival of the next duo as soon as soon as next season: Pettersson and Dahlen!

Matthew Phillips. 7 playoff games - 6 goals, 10 assists. 14 of those points in the last four games.
Too bad he's Flames property.
He is definitely got the skill and the heart to play. He shows lots of skill and passion in his game and I think he will succeed in the NHL. However odds are still against him as he is only 5’7” and 156 pounds. As much as the NHL is moving towards speed and skill, his frame is still on the smaller side of the spectrum. Even if he is a Flames prospect, I still wish him the best. Cheering for the Royals locally, I want the organization to have a good reputation on producing NHLers.

Alright, I got tickets to Game 7 if there is one. Make it happen guys!
-
Got tickets to the game next Saturday and I thought it would be a mean nothing game but now with Gaudette here it is going to be great!
-
For absolutely selfish reasons, I hope North Eastern gets eliminated next week so Gaudette can sign his ELC soon and play a few games with the big club to finish the season. I got tickets to the 31st game against the Blue Jackets and it will make the game much more meaningful to watch if I get to see Gaudette play

Good to hear he just keeps producing!
Btw, for those who always compare Lind to Glass I don't think it's really apples to apples comparison. Glass is a center and so you can expect a winger to score more points. I don't think that Lind is a better player at this point but he is definitely good value for where we picked him up.
Fun fact, the game i attended between the Portland Winterhawks and Victoria Royals a couple of weeks ago, Glass actually played the wing. Skylar Mckenzie is in the middle between Glass and Bellows on that top line. Which look to me that Glass may have play the majority of the season on the wing as well.

I am glad Fox is out of our division as well. He seems to be coming along as a really good puck moving D
