[Rumour] Patrick Kane Trade Talks
Nuckin Kingsly replied to Ilya Mikheyev's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
What does that have to do with the Lightning? I’m just saying they are still the same old leafs not addressing their defence. It will bite them in the ass if they don’t. -
[Rumour] Patrick Kane Trade Talks

Leafs will lose first round again haha, they aren’t getting past the bolts. They have a better defence and goalie. Can keep up with them on offence -
(Rumour) 4 teams interested in J.T. Miller

My favourite player all time, tied with Bure. Love it -
I wonder if that improves or worsens our chances on Bedard haha.

[Rumour] Canucks Getting Calls on Luke Schenn
Nuckin Kingsly replied to Warhippy's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
You don’t always have to trade players on expiring contracts if you aren’t getting what you want in return. If you keep a player past the deadline because teams aren’t giving up what you think is fair value, you prove a point. You will negotiate to a certain degree, but won’t crater. this shows other gms that you won’t be taken advantage of and lose the trade just to get a minimal asset in return. It strengthens your next trade discussions with that gm and other teams. They will believe you when you say you won’t trade them. -
(Rumour) 4 teams interested in J.T. Miller

Plus if it really comes down to it and we want more cap room, we dish him in 2 years. We won’t have to trade near as much for assets with way less term. And we won’t be nearly as dire of a state to keep picks, protect and build the farm -
Lol that’s what you took out of it? Just because you are depth in one team, doesn’t mean that’s the player you will become or are. Bobrovski, recchi, samsonov, just to make a few that we’re waiver pickups. Not even depth players. He is a top four dman on some teams, and especially ours… you think we will just acquire a whole bunch of stud dmen within the year? With where we are with our cap? No… he’s a reliable defenceman that can be used accordingly

I disagree with Bear completely. He had to adjust from getting plenty minutes in Edmonton to a sparely used 7th dman on a deep Carolina team. That’s gunna hurt your confidence a bit. Then getting dealt to Vancouver and having to learn a new system (not much of a system, but a system nonetheless). His fanned shots stepping in from the blue line can be tough to watch sometimes. But he is a good defender. And the metrics also show that with him and Hughes paired together, they are our best combination by miles. He’s got the battle and effort, good defensive iq and seems to always be in the right spot. He’s clearly been our second best defenceman this year. 2.5 mil for Bear would be a no brainer to me.

As hard as it is to keep watching oel struggle with his huge contract. I very highly doubt the canucks will buy him out already, he had a good first year. The contract is horrible, but don’t need to add another 4 years of payments onto it, especially with the retooling our management is up to. We won’t need the cap space yet. We need lots of prospects and draft picks to rejuvenate the system. Before we go that route

[DEBATE] JT Miller or Bo Horvat? Who you got?
Nuckin Kingsly replied to Elias Pettersson's topic in Canucks Talk
Could have stopped after your first sentence. Horvat definitely isn’t “easily the better more complete player” horvat pros vs miller - Faceoffs, ability to handle media, being nice, level headedness flaws- horvat can be soft, doesn’t drive play, needs playmaking wingers around him miller vs horvat - better skater, playmaker, hockey iq (reading the play and creating to be specific), passing, compete, hitting, fire, ability to make those around him better, leadership. flaws - I’ll timed outbursts, sloppy changes at times, huge brain farts with his passing almost once a game Close to equals- shot id maybe trade both, I was content with miller gone. But he’s my fave Canuck, and am happy he stays over bo -
[Signing] Islanders re-sign Bo Horvat
Nuckin Kingsly replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
One of the most insightful posts I have read on this board in 20 years.. Nailed it right on the head Deb, us nucks love a good scape goat. But I’d love to have a couple more millers on this team. That fire is what gets you going through funks and rough patches. Tocchet will get him in line more, hold him more accountable for too many outbursts from this year. But his outbursts before the year were a welcomed sight. -
[Signing] Islanders re-sign Bo Horvat
Nuckin Kingsly replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
Yeah that’s a good point man, especially considering it’s the only team you’ve played for, your Canadian and your royalty around these parts. Prob will never know. JT is my favourite nuck, but I was content with us trading him at last years deadline or in the off-season. We signed him to a very reasonable contract. So I supported it because he has that fire that hasn’t been seen much in a Canuck uniform in decades. Bo doesn’t show that, I already see more on ice leadership from Petey. I love bo, will always love him and respect the crap outta him for handling the tumultuous media and scrutiny from Vancouver. But I am glad to see him go over Miller and that we got a great haul for him in the trade. I will say this again, I have not felt this confident in a canucks management since the early Gillis years. They are finally showing their plan a bit more and building a team with character and grit, then can also make the tough trades when it is time to move on from a player. Instead of losing them in UFA -
[Signing] Islanders re-sign Bo Horvat
Nuckin Kingsly replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I hear you on the security, but then he would have signed for a million less in Van I think. I know it’s a total of 8 million extra. But could have been a true franchise legend staying here. -
Steve Dangle is a joke of a writer tho. He is having an off year, yet still almost at a point per game. He was our best forward since he got here. I will admit, I wanted to keep Miller over Horvat. He is the better player overall and he plays with far more intensity than Bo. Before this year, even though he made some ridiculously stupid passes, his good far outweighed the bad. Bo will not get 99 points in his career, he doesn’t have the playmaking or creativity, agility of miller. He needs to be held way more accountable for his sloppy line changes, outbursts are happening too much. But when right, which I think Tocchet is the perfect man for. I’d take him over Horvat everyday.

How often do metrics win the game? Beauvillier is a fast, tenacious player who consistently wins board battles. Good defensively and on the pk. And still put up close to 40 pts a season on a completely defensive minded team. His contract is also not an anchor, and can be flipped for another pick or player if needed. He is 25.

Maybe got worked up a little, and picked one quote from the closest poster. I’ll own that, but the stuff I read consistently slagging the canucks organization, management, is all so over blown. It’s mind numbing, this stuff happens all over sports and businesses as a whole. But canucks media are the worst and people latch onto that. It’s bothersome to keep feeding the narrative. This management has my total faith, JR has been around for a really long time. He can tell aqua man to shut it and let him do his job, because he is respected league wide. He is not a yes man, neither is tocchet. I can feel we are on the right path forward.

Horvat is not a franchise player, nor does he have the potential to be. Demko does have that potential. I expect the same amount of a return to the horvat trade. His injury right now might make it less. I love horvat and am sad to see him go, but I think he is a bit overvalued here, but he’s earned that from this fan base given his great character and work ethic. But in order to trade Thatchy, they need a 1st maybe a second depending on the other players in trade, a top prospect and a decent young roster player.
