  1. Allvin also said they don't need to make major changes. Can they have their pie and eat it too? - build up the prospect pool, bring in younger players, turn the Canucks into a contender, and not trade any of the big pieces in doing so. Seems like a tall order.
  2. Bruce - C'mon guys, go out and have fun, and who knows, maybe you win the game and feel good about yourself! JR/PA - Winning is the only option. Full effort or you will not be on this team being silly, but different mindsets, no way they re-sign Hunt
  3. I find this management team to be much more direct, and almost pi**ed off. They aren't happy missing playoffs and won't settle for patching holes with X players in the off season - like throwing mud at a wall and seeing what sticks. JR/PA seem focused on a plan, and by the sounds of it, the new management team has been very busy (doing what, who knows?) But, the Cup is the finish line and I can't wait for them to put their stamp on this team. It would really suck to lose Boudreau, if that happens, but if Gronborg is as good as they believe he is, then maybe he helps turn the Canucks into a contender. Whatever's best for the team.
  4. As much as we like Boudreau, the players probably love him more. Especially the young guys. How will it affect them if Bruce is gone? Will Miller revert to his former frustrated self? Is that why JR said players who won't listen to the coach will be gone. Are they preparing the players for a new coach they must listen to, or else? Gronborg?
  5. Myers The guy is too gangly and has poor puck control, loses the puck easily in his feet. He's kind of the anti-Garland.
  6. Gosh, I wish I knew what their plan was. Do they intend to re-sign both Horvat and Miller? Big issues with the D, so I'm assuming Myers or OEL are gone. OEL - Hughes - Schenn Dermott - This would be it, so I think they plan on rebuilding the D. Kris Letang's name was brought up and I thought of him earlier in the season, as he's a UFA after this year. He may want to come out to play in VAN for JR/PA.
  7. Well, PA did say they don't need to make major changes, so I just figured that "hey, he's not in their plans I guess", but now I'm wondering if that was intentional and just a negotiation tactic. Not pouring too much praise on Bo or JT right before they try to re-sign them. They did say Miller and Horvat are both good players. I think they might have a number (salary and term) for both players, and won't go over that number. I guess we'll see.
  8. Miller's going to be traded. Just a feeling after this presser. They hardly mentioned him with regards to the future. Hardly talked about him at all. Surprising, seeing as he amassed 99 points.
  9. Pretty interesting presser. Almost seemed like JR and PA were both becoming annoyed at Drance's questions. Some things that struck me: - They left Miller out of the conversation, for the most part. Mentioned the young core (mid 20s and younger), also mentioned the some players could still become superstars (Pettersson, Hughes and Demko). No mention of Miller, only to say they would reach out to his agent in the off season. Now I think Miller is going to be traded again. Make a splash Jimmy! Miller and the #15 for a Top 3. - The D needs to be better, defensive zone exits one of the worst in the league, and they rely too heavily on Demko. Right away I thought of Tyler Myers when it comes to gaffs and mistakes, unable to clear the puck, and I think him and his $6 salary are going to be traded. They want to improve the D. I'm all for that. - Players will be gone if they don't listen to the coach. Hello JT Miller! Edit - Okay, I'm being a little sarcastic, but I believe Miller was one of the main characters who got Green fired. He's a hothead and brash at times, and who knows what happened in that room earlier in the season.
  10. It also brought awareness to dementia. I can't imagine Brock trying to play at the highest level with a heavy heart. He's been going through a really rough time the last few months, and it's amazing he's scored much at all. A lot of credit to him for performing as well as he did. And in a distracting, stressful contract year, to boot. I was hoping before that they would trade Boeser, because he would be expensive and he underperformed, but now knowing what I know, I hope the Canucks are patient and keep him with this core. He's a great player who will one day rip it up (35+ goals). I also really loved seeing the closeness between Brock, Petey and Hughes. These guys care a lot about each other, and they want to win a championship together. They'll go to war for each other. Love that.
  11. Drance really annoys me, but he's correct in saying the Canucks aren't ready for playoffs yet. I truly believe, though, that JR/PA will make the right changes in the off season and the Canucks will be a playoff team next year.
  12. Miller and Boudreau ARE the culture. Re-sign them both, or suffer the consequences
  13. well, I have to admit I don't know every player in the league, smart guy. This Morin dude only played 29 NHL games, and he's 26, so this isn't really news.
  14. Boudreau will be back, probably re-sign tomorrow (3 years) Seeing how good TOR got, it certainly makes a big difference when you get a great #1 overall pick. The Leafs have two of those players. The Canucks need a 1st overall, or at least a Top 3 pick. Maybe they get that pick in 2023. I recall JR saying when he first got onboard, something to the effect that VAN hasn't had a #1 and they need that. I can't remember exactly how he put it, but it makes me think maybe he'll kick off his tenure with a blockbuster trade at the Draft, to move VAN way up. That would be something.
  15. That 1st period was hard to watch, or listen to. I wish VAN was in it, I miss that excitement around the city and everyone glued to the set. I can't f'n wait for next season.
  16. Gotta say, a CGY vs TOR final would be pretty wild. I'd hate seeing both teams there, but it would be fantastic hockey. Ratings in the US would take such a dive Sucks that TOR is as good as they've gotten, but this is how it is. Blaming the refs?
