He is the future but there's gonna be a lot less time and space in the show and he could use a bit work on his agility. Regardless put this kid on the pp in his natural spot. Right shot point and throw stecher in tanevs place

Fired up to see this kid. Hope everyone puts their expectations somewhat realistic. It's a huge step and he has some things he needs to work on

Jesus Christ people can we stop bringing up the past on JV. Yeah we could have had ehlers or nylander.....whatever, it's getting old. He came to camp out of shape and was floating around on the ice.....well he's not anymore. He's partying (maybe) and being entitled was a red flag for sure.......he was 20 and every time you turn on the radio/tv you see yourself as the saviour, it went to his head and sure it shows immaturity but cmon people I think we can give him a pass if it doesn't continue. The guys been working hard and playing great the last month or so. If he was playing like this he would have never been sent down in the beginning. He doesn't have the creativity and hockey iq to drive play in the offensive zone but that's not his game. He's using his speed when the puck gets on his stick drive defenders back to gain the zone, that's how he is suppose to drive play. He's definitely snake bitten this year but he's been picking up a couple points lately, maybe they're finally starting to go in. Kids playing well lately. Let's start focusing on the present and future

The dynamic of the west and pacific in particular has changed. We shouldn't be afraid to go after the smaller more skilled centres. I would take Patrick #1 don't get me wrong but the day of needing centres to go against getzlaf kopitar hanzel kesler etc etc are done. By the time our team is ready to compete those guys are going to basically irrelevant. Draistle and strome are really the only big centremen threats in the division we're gonna have to worry about size with skill wise

I was in a golf tournament in whistler which he and a bunch of other nucks/nhlers were in and he was probably the biggest party animal of the bunch. I never seen him on the course so maybe I shouldn't run my mouth but he was definitely the talk of the after party

The game before that he left the ice in the 2nd period and didn't return. Game before that he was the best player on the ice also. He's stepping his game up lately. This is a Virtanen hate thread I know but the kids playing super well last couple weeks

Didn't watch his last game vs binginton but the night before vs the penguins he looked great. Super noticeable. Had a few good chance (1 great) a few good hits even 2 of his patented run over the guy who try's to hit him. Couple good back checks. Really engaged in the offensive zone not the lost look he had before. Kids really snake bitten you can you can see it. He fanned on the puck right infront of the net prime chance 2 shots blocked in close. He's definitely working hard in the last few games I've seen. Be nice if he had a bit more skill to play with.....playing with cassels must be hard. Guys a pure grinder always a step behind in the offensive zone (mind you I've only watched a handful of games but from what I've seen he's garbage, cassels that is)
