they had their event... and the left chose to ruin it... 100% support is an ideology... the LGBTQ community is demanding that the straight community must date them, or a bigot.. not everyone has to support this group, this group is not without flaws... demanding support is the ridiculous thing... especially when they are not without flaws

Is this on a manifesto somewhere? I can’t say I’ve ever interpreted the LGBTQ community’s message this way.

insulting my intelligence, how quaint... i would say you are in the vast minority in thinking this is not an political or idealistic view of thinking....

anyways... forcing idealistic views on people when has that ever gone wrong in history.....

The fact that it's a political debate just illustrates where the LGBTQ community really stands within our society and the importance of having pride events.

There is another irony here, illustrated in your second paragraph.  Mandating that people wear these or any other political type jerseys could also be called wanting them to have only their / your / our picture of freedom.  They don't have the freedom to not wear the jersey.

Not all opinions are equal in value or equally deserving of protection. Some opinions, like believing LGBTQ+ folks are not deserving of the same rights as straight/cis-het folks, are just wrong. These opinions should be treated as such and ultimately dismissed.

I miss Darcy "Crazy Eyes" Hordichuck.

Talking about the crazy eyes. I used to sit in row 7, corner seat and if there was Facoff  in that corner I used to watch Bard May give the look at an oppenent. It made your stomch turn. You new what was coming next

Bieksa told a story on Spittin’ Chiclets about how Hordichuk used to meet random people on the streets of Vancouver and offer to give them a tour, including stops by the homes of Canucks, in exchange for cash. He’d actually

come by and knock on the door, trying to introduce his teammates to these random people. One day Roberto got a little pissed off about it (I think he’d been woken from a nap). Hordichuk’s response was something like “it’s tough living on league minimum”

You won't get some crazy haul for Hughes.  Quinn is an excellent defenceman, but a team is not giving up 5 or 6 assets for him.

I think any package starts with Nemec and a 1st.

Then you add in a roster player, and MAYBE a smaller add-on (B prospect or 2nd round pick)

    So...

    Nemec

    Wood

    1st

    2nd

or to make room on the LHD...

    Nemec

    Siegenthaler

    1st

These proposals of Nemec + another top tier prospect + 1st + good roster player would never happen.  Nemec is worth so much that I don't even think NJ would move him for Hughes.

I think most people here understand that the actual offer New Jersey would make in this hypothetical is likely different than what Quinn’s worth. It’s hard to imagine a player of his age, position, and caliber being traded while locked up longer term on a very efficient AAV.

Considering those factors, if I were GMPA it’s going to take Nemec, Mercer, Holtz, and an unprotected first rounder before I consider the trade. I still think it’s arguably not enough for Quinn and I’m fairly confident New Jersey wouldn’t want to pay this much. They can both be true.

But I guess Darcy Hordichuk probably isn't up to a whole lot nowadays

I think Hordy's guided tours business has slowed right down since Luongo sold his place.

Reaves is pretty useless now days honestly. He'll be out of the league in a year or two.

    He's 36, to be fair.

Haven't seen @JM_ on here for a while.

Hope everything is alright in his world.

Did he say he was going to step away from CDC or am I misremembering that? I seem to remember him saying he was finding himself spending too much time on here and/or getting a little more argumentative than he'd like.

Yes, if he comes and plays on the Canucks he can sign his 3 year ELC and burn a whole year off of that, just like Quinn did and his best friend Rathbone.  That's the incentive.  He can go play in Abby after the NHL season is over if they are in the playoffs...

They burn a year off to get closer to free agency but they also get their entire signing bonus rather than a prorated amount like their salary. I know there’s always been some wink, wink, nudge, nudge with the NCAA (to an extent) and now they’ve got their NIL deals (not that it really matters with hockey) but I imagine a six digit number in the bank account looks pretty dam good to a kid fresh out of college.

  9. Some of the first to come to mind have already been mentioned here (making the team, getting the C, goal against STL in the bubble, etc) but there's one that always comes to mind for me.

I'll always remember the 2015 playoff series against Calgary where the team got outplayed for the most part but Bo was great. That was his coming out party and the first time I thought they might really have themselves a player in Bo.

The other one that stands out for me is that first time we saw Bo be fast. Anyone else remember that? I think it might've been against the Sharks. He carried the puck down the wing and just burned the D man wide before beating the goalie. I remember I had to rewind to watch it a couple more times. I couldn't believe it was Bo doing that.

Still pales in comparison to Chris Collinsworth being President of the Patrick Mahomes Meatriding Club.

I can't believe nobody's mentioned Romo's man crush on Josh Allen. He can't help but talk about how incredible he thinks Allen is, even when he's not playing well, "It was an absolutely perfect ball. Maybe overthrown just a little." when the replay shows it was clearly overthrown. Stuff like that. I find Allen a phenomenal and unique talent, but Romo hugs nuts like no other.

It is unfortunate to lose LP although not a major loss for the organization, but why would we include him in a trade deal only to lose him later in the year... ?

Why not acquire a player that had already cleared waivers... it really is confusing... Again it's not the end of the world, but leaves a big question mark about the organizations long term vision.

Could we not have gotten a different player in the Bear trade that we actually had potential to keep within the organization?? ( I suppose it was a gamble they took that didn't pay off?)

He had already cleared waivers when they acquired him. Waivers became necessary again after he stayed on the NHL roster for 30 days.

Cause no one want to be a cop now..  dangerous job and underpaid..   so u get a lot of unqualified ones getting these jobs..

I saw @thedestroyerofworlds point out the bit about the danger of the job but I thought I’d also point out that they’re really not underpaid. They’re paid quite well as a matter of fact. Virtually all first class VPD constables are making at least $120k per year, many of which are making >$150K and many more are making >$175K with the overtime they get. And the overtime is gravy- it’s working Canucks games, not the Rodney King riots. This is for a group of people that by any large don’t have the skills or education to land a job other than policing that would pay them anywhere close to what they get as cops.

This Wild Card expansion honestly sucks.  It's made for much more lopsided games ever since its introduction.

Yeah there's some OK matchups (LAC/JAC, TB/DAL has potential, BAL/CIN probably would've been decent with a healthy Lamar) but they're definitely not as good as the pre-expansion format.

If I had not seen you guys talking about it I wouldn't have known the game was on- whatever happened to Sunday football?

I think it also has to do with the NFL expanding the number of Wild Card teams. I could be wrong on that though.

Well they addressed the back of the rotation starter......sort of....a guy who went 3-10 with an ERA north of 5.00 last season with the Pirates....

The stats are pretty underwhelming (average 92 MPH fastball) but he's only making $700k.....so there's that.....

From what I’ve read Thompson still has minor league options while Fernandez doesn’t. Hopefully Fernandez can end up reassigned to Buffalo. That velocity is tantalizing.

Jays sign Brandon Belt to a 1 yr deal....

    https://www.sportsnet.ca/mlb/article/blue-jays-sign-1b-brandon-belt-to-one-year-9-3m-deal/

TBH, I'm having a bit of a tough time wrapping my head around this one...The Jays are pretty much set at 1B....I suppose BB could be insurance against injury and can be the guy when Vladdy is at DH, or needs a day off....and he adds another lefty to the batting order....but...

9 million per seems like a lot of money for a 34 year-old who hit .213 last season and was limited to 78 games because of injuries...

Belt walks a lot, which is something that the lineup doesn't have in abundance, but again, that seems like a lot of money...

I think there's an argument to be made for him being a bounceback candidate- he slashed .274/.378/.597 back in 2021 while playing in the pitcher-friendly NL West (aside from Colorado of course). Bringing him to the AL East and its more hitter-friendly parks might see him find some return to form. It's a one year deal, so the risk is minimal. He's got a WS ring and from what I've read from Giants fans and writers, he's a fantastic leader and locker room presence. If I remember correctly he's always been a very good fielder too- with the shift being gone this should be even more important. The Jays have probably the best defensive OF in all of baseball to go with their pretty good IF- Belt helps improve that.

I'm not sure would've been the next move I would've made if I were Shatkins but I like the acquisition myself.
