  1. Yeah you can’t make things up just to fit your narrative and then not expect to get called out on it.
  2. Saying Bob had JV as a 2nd rounder when he had him at 7th.
  3. We were desperate then. We aren’t anymore. Kind of my point
  4. I love that we didn’t do a PR stunt about him making the squad like MTL did with Kotkaniemi. We just know he’s on the squad, we don’t have to be desperate about it like them.
  5. Definetey agree. This preseason has been very encouraging. He has earned an extended look.
  6. Baertschi has and will keep producing like a solid 2nd line winger. So underrated on this board smh
  7. I am not surprised by his quick adjustment to NA. He is an elite player and will be our superstar for the next 15 years. Him Boeser and Horvat up front with Hughes and OJ. We’re gonna have a great team.
  8. Isk Ive never put stock into preseason games, its not an indicator whatsoever for the regular season. That being said, Horvat Boeser Baertschi and EP look ready for a big year, and Stecher Hutton Juolevi Gudbranson have so much to prove. Markstrom has the potential. I dont know, I really like our squad and see something bright. Its not like its close to an end product at all, but I think this year is the first step on the ladder to the Stanley Cup. Just a feeling
  9. IDK i see us making the playoffs this year. THis obviously needs a solid Markstrom and a healthy lineup but i think we have what it takes.
  10. He can’t but there were rumblings as to him staying in the nhl this year. Im personally gonna say that I 100% see him in the chl this year and that’s that. Funny rumor though for a 19 yo goalie.
  11. The thing is that EP is more of a blue chip prospect than Boeser was (who was a blue cip prospect himself). That’s not a knock on Boeser, who is clearly an all star and one if the best wingers in the game today already. EP should have high expectations, as much if not more than Boeser had. Boeser knocked our socks off, EP will do the same, if not more.
  12. Of course if all our best players go down, we go down. Every nhl team is like that. Take away crosby and malkin and pittsburgh crumbles. Ovechkin ans backstrom washington crumbles. Stamkos and Kucherov, Tampa crumbles. We just have the depth now to handle it much better than last year is all I’m saying.
  13. Thy dont have to be ready for the nhl. They just have to fill roles for a certain period of time. They dont have to keep their spot and make the team, they can go back to the ahl when the player returns. In that group I mentioned you do have the finnish rookie of the year, one of the top finnish d, one of the whl’s top point producers, the swedish 2nd division mvp and the hobey baker winner . Our depth is fine.
  14. I’ll make it simple. We added more than EP and some 4th liners. We added Dahlen, Lind, Gaudette, Jasek, palmu, gadjovich, juolevi, and a stanley cup winner (beagle). This year, having an injury isnt as lethal as it was last year. We have the quality prospects and veterans to make up for those losses for stretches at a time. Being one of the most injured teams in the league every year, having added incredible depth makes our team better over the course of a season. We have options this year. Last year we did not. Simple as that.
  15. Im sorry but Barzal got 85 points. Saying EP should temper to 30 points is ludicrous. Even boeser who is a lesser prospect at the time than EP Is today, lit up the nhl. EP getting 60 is totally realistic and the sky is the limit. Why does everybody always buzz kill when one of our players comes in? People said Boeserneeded the ahl, horvat needed some ahl time, that stecher was too small etc... EP is making the team and will be our best player in due time. Get over it.
  16. If you want to nitpick, Panarin must be a terrible player since he came over at 25 from the KHL, a league where Linden Vey is the top scorer... oh right, Panarin is a top 20 player in the world right now. Tryamkin has immense potential, is only what? 23? And has had his numbers improve, all while getting more important minutes in a more important role. There’s literally nothing negative to say about him other than the fact that he’s not in a nucks jersey right now. He would INSTANTLY be one of our top 3 dmen on opening night.
  17. A )we’re clearly not talking about the same thing B ) i am making a statement that people who think we need a 100 point player or 2 new 50 point players to replace the sedins is not actually the answer. The sedins were involvd in a lot of goals together, skewing that 100 point base that people keep talking about. If you subtract the goals where both were involved (so 2 points added and not 1)you would realistically see that we do not need to compensate 100 point’s worth of players, but more like 60 (this is a rough number obviously). Since every body can score points, surely one of the 3 points will go to someone else as well, meaning we dont really need to replace 2 players. We just need one 60 point player ala EP
  18. Yeah its true people keep saying we need to replace 100 points, 50 for each sedin. But in reality, most of those are from the same goal so really we only need to replace like 60-70 points, and a guy like EP alone could do that. Add in Horvat Baertschi Virtanen and Boeser all set for career years, players like gagner eriksson granlund goldobin and leipsic looking to gain some traction, and a d core with a steady prospect probably coming in. I dontknow, it just seems like collectively we arent that bad even with the sedin’s retirement. EP is a stud and him alone in my opinion is enough to compensate for the sedin’s departure.
  19. THE silver lining can be that if we had pld, we probably would not have picked EP in 2017.
  20. That would be a steal. Obviously it’s hard to pony up so fast for a player with 70 games to his name, but he’s worth the very small risk.
  21. Quinn is such a good rover that this reporter thought he was a forward
  22. Had Montreal taken anyone else, I still think Kotkaniemi would have gone before our pick. Montreal took a huge risk and I like that, it’s the first time they ever aimed high since that pathetic Bergevin stepped in.
  23. SO much hype around Hughes (and rightly so) it’s crazy to think that we’re talking much less about our SHL playoff and season mvp, U20 record holding golden boy. This prospect pool that we have is insane. EP will be on the squad, I say pair him with Virtanen and Eriksson. Virtanen has that PF style that he’s putting together quite well, with blazing speed that im sure EP will thrive off of. Eriksson has size, technique and is incredible defensively. I see EP waking the sleeping offensive side of Loui and I think that line will be by christmas a legit NHL calibre 2nd line.
  24. Do not be so naive. Of course his coach doesn’t want him gone, he’s a phenomenal player and without him Michigan will be less good. It’s just like Pettersson and the Vajxo coach who said he should go back, it’s just to save their own skin and keep their team’s best players. Pettersson’s WC coach and WJC coaches said he’d be in the nhl the next year, and all the analysts agree, and it’s the same situation for Hughes. Don’t be blinded by a coach’s desperation to latch on to their best players in order to keep their jobs.
