  1. We have $35+ million in space, I think we may be able to prioritize EP and Hronek
  2. You are holding this regime accountable for Bennings moves, how does that make sense? No team moves bad money out at the deadline unless it is expiring. They would not have made the Hronek deal if they did not have a path to clear space this summer.
  3. They will move money out, that won't be a problem in the offseason. With regards to the pick, you are making stuff up to support your POV, there is no evidence to support your claim anywhere.
  4. This is not Jim Bennings Front office, everybody knows they were bad. That means nothing when evaluating this management group. Whether you like it or not, this is not, nor ever was going to be a rebuild, ever. You don't rebuild a team that has the 3 hardest roles covered by franchise players. I cannot fathom how anyone who watches this team can't see that our biggest pressing need is a top 4RHD puck moving D. We got an outstanding one. Complain all you want about "Draft Capital", but that is certainly not the only way to acquire young players with upside. In barely 6 months we have added: Kuzmenko-Free Johansson-Free Aman-Free Kravstov- Fringe NHLer and 2026 7th Bloom- Stillman That is very tidy work there. Our pool of quality young players is way ahead of where it was last year at the same time.
  5. Aside from the 2nd, which futures have we given up? We have a superstar #1C and #1D in Hughes and EP, High end wingers in Miller and Kuz, and a franchise goalie in Demko. We will be adding Hronek to that mix next year, as well as a top 10 pick to our prospect pool. There isn't a front office on earth that is not going to attempt to build around that.
  6. How are we very depleted in draft capital? We are down a 2nd, 5th and 7th, but have 5 3rd and 4th rounders. At most we are down a 2nd, which they will be trying to replace. Same with next year, down a 2nd, up a 4th. This management group will move money out and pick up a few picks this summer.
  7. I'm gonna be smiling for days when the Leafs get bounced in round 1 again. They spent a ton to re arrange their deck furniture. -ROR- Already on LTIR, .5ppg player -Acciari- .3ppg player -Lafferty-.3 ppg player -McCabe- Solid pickup -Gustaffson- Bottom pair filler -Schenn- Bottom pair filler They gave up Sandin and boat load of picks for that return. Not sure they are much better on paper, and all they did was disrupt their chemistry.
  8. I'd go 1 year at 1.5 mil. 2 mil max for him. He has been pretty good this season, but I'd put him on a show me type deal. He takes a little less than he could get elsewhere to have the opportunity to earn a bigger long term deal the following year. He is going to get a far bigger opportunity in Vancouver than he will on most teams. I think we need a legit top 4 stay at home D for each of Hronek and Hughes and that should be priority #1. I think a Bear/Johansson combo will be our #3 RD next year.
  9. People are going to hate to admit that this team is: 1) playing much, much better under Tocchet and his team 2) Have a pretty decent lineup when healthy 3) Have a grossly under rated prospect pool 4) With 2-3 schrewed moves could be a very good team next season. 5) This will be a 2 year re tool wit ha better team coming back next season, and a plan to really compete the following. I'd expect significant roster changes coming up. No, the TDL is not an indication of this group ability to move money out, nobody did that at the TDL, and that is not whathat period is for. Beauvillier-EP-Kuz Mikheyev-Miller-Boeser Podkolzin-XXX-Kravtsov Aman, Dries, Studnicka, Joshua, combo for 4th line Hughes-XXX XXX-Hronek OEL-Johansson/Bear Getting Shipped out: -Garland get dealt. He is putting together a pretty solid season, will be over .5ppg. He is tradeable without retention, but may not get a huge return. -Myers will get dealt after the bonus is paid out, with retention. -Pearson will be traded with retention, or buried in the minors. -I think Rathbone and Hoglander are going to get dealt for similar level prospects, but different roles. I see this management group starting to move away from smaller skilled guys and looking for more size and speed. -Boeser is untradeable right now. Give him until the TDL to turn things around or deal him. The longer we wait, the less it will cost. In: -Every NCAA, European UFA, and any non qualified players of interest -Solid Defensive RHC who PK's -Stay at home top 4 Defensive LD, RD. I don't care if they ever cross the centre line, just defend. -Karlsson, Raty, Klimovich, McDonaugh all will get a few looks. -Draft one of Benson, Yager, Smith at 7,8,or 9.
  10. Detroit is 10 points ahead of us with 20 games left, I really can't see us catching them. I think the highest that we can climb would be to the 9 spot before the lottery.
  11. I like a lot of what has been done recently. -Bear for a 5th -Beauvillier has been very good with EP And Kuz -Kravtsov for Lockwwood is a good deal -Bloom, while getting rid of Stillman is a good move -3rd and 4th for Lazar and Schenn is good deadline work -Hronek for a 1st/2nd is a good deal. Sure, people can debate whether or not the timing is right, but we got the player we need for a fair cost. My offseason plan would be: -Trade Myers with retention . This should be doable after his bonus is paid. -Trade Pearson with retention for minimal return. DO NOT BUYOUT -Aggressively target NCAA UFA D: Livingstone, Bengtsson, Hirose, Huard -Same thing with any potential European FA's -Bargain shop non qualifiers. Aman and Johansson were good finds -Assuming we are in the 6-9 range of the draft, pick Benson, Smith, or Yager -Do absolutely nothing on July 1. -Two main goals after that------Find stay at home LD to pair with Hronek, and #3C who can lead the PK. Next year won't be great, let some of the young guys develop in Abby, draft a D in a deep D draft, and hope to add some pieces next offseason.
  12. He was on PP2 in Detroit about 70% of the time.
  13. This team has been way better under Tocchet and his staff. In short amount of time they have built some structure and accountability, I'm excited to see what they can do for the rest of the year through training camp. I think they are doing a good job.
  14. He was not good for us at all, even on a $1 mil deal. Nice work getting a 4th for him.
  15. This team is looking to compete in 2 years. Like it or not, that is the plan. I'm ok with that, we have added some really nice pieces over the past year, and I have to say that I really think Tocchet is going to be a very good coach for this group. Still a ton of work to be done, need 4 more Dmen, but getting Hronek is a really good start. One of the reasons I am OK with looking 2 years out is the job the team is doing in Abbottsford, really impressive work.
  16. Yes, FJ is RH, but has played the left side a bit up until this year. I think he will surprise people, he has had a really good season.. He will also give us a chance at leading the league in Filips
  17. I expect that Johansson will get a long look at the #3RD spot next season. He has decent size, and has has a really good year so far in the SHL. Long term, this would give us 3 PMD, 1 on each pair. Now we just need to find 3 big stay at home defensive D to partner them with.
  18. The way I see our D in 2 years is: Hughes- XXX XXX-Hronek XXX-XXX The only 2 I'd have interest in are Severson and Mayfield. I'd only do those anything on the UFA front if we can get away from OEL or Myers. Otherwise, Go hard after Livingstone, and look to next years draft to drafty a partner for Hughes/Hronek.
  19. Canucks were going to re build their D over the next 2 seasons, that was a foregone conclusion. This was never going to be a tear down, no matter what CDC wanted. We have a franchise goalie, a top 5-10 forward group, and a #1 D. This was always going to be a re tool. They brought Tocchet in to develop team structure, particularly from our forwards, we already seen a pretty positive shift. The focus of Front office is going to be to shed salary, build the prospect pool and rebuild the D. In the past month or so we have added Raty, Bloom, Kravtsov who will be firmly in our top 10 prospects, and Hronek who is now our 2nd best D. This is a good start. I fully expect that we will be very active leading into the draft. Accomplishing these 3 goals is going to take many moves, it's not going to be just 1. I like the way this is going, we are on the right path since mid Jan.
