I know everyone wanted to keep the 1st round but at some point this team needs to start pushing to a playoff run or we’d be wasting the young talent we have now. Our rebuild was already stalled by trying to stay competitive for the Sedins when they were playing. Now we have the young pieces to build around. The more I begin to look at our forward group the more I see 20-goal-scorers throughout our top 9. Now the question is how the defense will form to compete and shut down the opponents.

Probably not but with Edler resigning we don’t need to worry about minute eaters. I feel like Myers is like a right-sided Edler but slightly bigger and slightly slower.

If there’s a choice between Myers and Gardiner I’d probably take Gardiner. They both give the puck away a lot but Gardiner at least pushes the offensive.

I’m not crazy about giving up the 1st but considering Miller has usually played on the 3rd line and will probably get a good look playing with Bo and Pearson I think he will have better production than in the past. If Miller ends up with 60+ points and the 1st becomes late round I’d consider it fair value.

I think it’s common knowledge now that Canucks are looking for a high offensive defenseman and Gardiner being the only legitimate free agent that meets that requirement they probably would rather trade to get that piece. Barrie Subban Ristolainen Gostisbehere There’s been smoke around all those players and I wouldn’t be surprised if Tanev is the defenseman they’d send back as part of a package.

As accomplished as Holland is, there is a ton of work to fix in that organization and if he is able to get the job done to right the ship in Edmonton, McDavid will be into his 30s and on the decline.

While I like Muzzin as a good top 4 guy who can play both sides of the ice, I do wonder how he will adjust from the dump in chase/grind it out style the Kings employed throughout his career to the high flying transition game the Leafs like to play. I don’t know much about Muzzins puck moving skills.
