It's funny looking back and seeing predictions, and also recency bias. Like so many posts in this thread about Horvat, Gaunce and Shinkaruk being the future and all 3 being possible star players. Fast forward 3 and a half years and Horvat is the only one close to that. Unfortunately, you can probably apply this to 2017 with Pettersson, Lind, Virtanen, Joulevi, Gadjovich Demko etc. Not all of them will pan out even though their seasons are going great thus far

That is true, but the whole thing of "tanking doesn't work" is not true. Tanking does not guarantee you a top 3 pick, but it helps anyways. You can only move 3 spots back, so might as well finish as low as possible if playoffs are out of the picture.
