  1. Yea, good comparison, but no idea if Hickey had his development delayed because of injuries. OJ has only played 23 nhl games..too early to give up on him.
  2. Would be a terrible move if they chose Hunt over OJ and put him on waivers... no way he'd clear and a good chance he'd become a good player on the next team he plays for....
  3. Not a good move by Green. Worst part is, it looks like OJ might be pushed to waivers too.
  4. Need to send juolevi to this coach!
  5. Need to get the Sedins to talk to him...they had similar conditioning issues early in their careers .
  6. Agreed. Benning wouldn't have been hired if he didn't appease the owners and agree to retool. It's just a sad situation for the fan base really. Have an owner who "wants to win", but isn't willing to let the professionals decide what's required and the GM gets roasted. Watch them now fire or not extend Benning, the new gm come, do his thing and put the team back additional years lol. Imagine how much further ahead the team would be if the professionals were given full autonomy...like Yzerman was in Tbay and now Det.
  7. "Turn around things quickly with that group"... I'm pretty sure ownership had a significant say in "turning it around quickly"..Linden fought back, but ownership didn't listen, so he quit, which i commend him for. Benning is a draft and build guy through and through and if he had full autonomy he would have 100% started rebuilding when he got hired. Instead, he just had to do what the dumb owners wanted, win now with a stale core, fail and lose options to trade players for picks. Sad part is, Benning shoulders the blame from the fans saying he had 7 years lol. Reality is the first 3 to 4 years he did what ownership dictated . Reality is that ownership needs patience with draft and developmen to build a consistent winner. All the consistent cup winners of the past decade...Pits, LA, Chi, Tbay all sucked for the better part of a decade before winning and their owners were patient (unlike the aquillinis) i pray that they let Benning see this through and finish the job and win! I think it's super ignorant to blame the gm, blame the loser, meddling owners
  8. I don't blame Benning, I blame ownership 100%. When Benning and Linden took over in 2014, it was painfully obvious that the Sedin era was over and that a rebuild was necessary. Rather than listening to what Benning and Linden recommended - a proper rebuild ownership decides to give a few more kicks at the can between 2014 and 2017 and forced a retool. If ownership actually took the advice, they would have got a good return (draft picks) out of our aging veterans, as well as higher draft positions from finishing lower in standings. Given Benning's great drafting skill, I firmly believe if that approach was followed, by now we would be a solid, complete young team, making the playoffs and contending. Right now everyone is saying Benning had 7 years and no results, but i say ownership forced his hand and made him go against his recommendations for the first 3ish years and the rebuild actually began in 2018. Given that I think Benning has done a good job with what direction he was given to keep the team competitive for as long as possible. To keep the team competitive he was forced to sign filler players to questionable terms and dollars...(what player wants to sign with a declining team unless you overpay and commit?). For most fans it's frustrating that 7 years later and we are still waiting for a contender. I would love to ask ownership if they think the team would be further ahead, behind or at the same spot today, had they let Linden and Benning, professionalsn they hired do what was recommeneded . I personally think we would be leaps and bounds ahead. Rumor has it that the Aquillini's have a bad reputation amongst the GM community in the league for meddling. Until they let the hockey minds do what is recommended we will be stuck in medicority long term, not good enough to win a cup but good enough to just make the playoffs and exit early. I blame ownership 100% .
  9. Sick of all the love the coaching staff gives hughes. All the pp time, all the 3 on 3 time all the turnovers, same mistakes...give others a chance!
  10. Ownership would never publicly announce that a GM can't do what he wants. Benning was brought in by Linden because he wanted to do a full rebuild from the get go hence bringing in Benning, someone who has a good reputation for drafting. Ownership obviously didn't let that happen at the pace Linden or Benning wanted so he left. So subtracting the first 3ish years of Benning's tenure (Ownership set us back), I'd say Benning hasn't done terribly in 4 years. I'd imagine if he was given the green light at the get go, the team would be a contender by now.
  11. 7 years sure, but also was not given the green light by ownership to do a full rebuild for his first 3ish seasons. He inherited a mess when he came in, and had to appease ownership to turn the team with the same roster into a winner. Past 4 years is more of a fair time period to judge him on.
  12. Picks who have injury issues before seeing NHL action, but still made the NHL as regulars. Juolevi hasn't done that, yet. Patrick is a good example.
  13. List examples of injury prone NHL Draft picks, or prospects, not playing in NHL that end up having successful NHL careers.
