  1. I tend to agree. Lets hope he at least returns something decent. Would hate to be in the same situation that the Flames are in with Gaudreau and end up losing him as a UFA, for no return.
  2. Trade Miller in a package for a top 4 dman and picks. Sign Kane with the salary that would have went to Miller. Hoprfully Kuzmenko signs here. Offense doesn't take a huge hit with the loss of Miller in this scenario. You'd think Kane would take an opportunity to play in his home town.
  3. Trade Miller in a package for a top 4 dman and picks. Sign Kane with the salary that would have went to Miller. Team comes out ahead. You'd think Kane would take an opportunity to play in his home town.
  4. Trade both miller and boeser, would net a great return, clear up a lot of cap space and set us up to win when the core is ready to contendn.
  5. Btutal, so annoying to see lamiko, dickinson out there in OT over podkolzin and hoglander...ridiculous
  6. 7.5 million is too much for Boeser right now for sure, but he could grow into that contract. I feel like keeping Miller is a risk...losing the potential of such a good return. Maybe there is a possibility that they trade both? Resets things significantly, opens up a lot of cap space and we'd get a big return.
  7. Makes total sense to trade miller now while his value is high. This team won't be contending for a cup anytime soon, and can probably make the playoffs next season with the return they get for him. By the time we are contenders (if we ever get there), he will be 32-33. Trade him to a team that can offer a youth package including a young top 4 RHD that fits our core's age. Potential trading partners that that have a lot youth/picks to offer and will be making playoff pushes: NYR, LA , Ana. Feel like the Rangers are a perfect fit. Hopefully management doesn't mess this one up and sign him to a long term deal.
  8. Tough call for Rutherford to make. He wants to get younger, amd thinks this team is not a contender. What does he do? Trade anyone over 26 years old on roster and bring back picks and prosepcts ? Trade a few players over 26 years old and try to accomplish that or just go all in with the roster he has? In my opinion, he should trade as many players over age 26 now, get a good return and go all in a few years.
  9. JT miller makes such bonehead plays all the time. Don't know why everyone likes him so much, constantly makes the wrong plays in his own end. Trade him while he has value.
  10. What's the threshold of positive cases before ganes start getting canceled ?
  11. Not sure what Sanjose is expecting as a return, but if it's minimal, why not try and ship pearson there (if sanjose is on his list) for Kane @ 50% retained. Turn around and trade miller (he's 29, doesn't fit our core age wise) for a top 4 dman. Feel like the top 6 fwds don't take a big hit with the trade and the D would obviously be improved...maybe Kane smartens up coming home to van? Podkolzin Petterson Garland Kane Horvat Hoglander/Boeser
  12. It's also been reported that the reason Rutherford left Pittsburgh is that the Owner got involved and nixed a deal that he had in place for Letang. There is no way he would come here unless full autonomy was agreed upon. Finally Aquilini addressed this. Glad he has reportedly got full autonomy, but what's kind of scary is his track record of trading away so many picks to win now. Hopefully he realizes the team isn't necessarily ready to win right now, and does not take an all in approach that he's known for.
  13. Glad it's just as interim GM. Need someone younger to be GM'ing
  14. Need to bring in a GM who values building through the draft and not trading away picks....Van can't afford to keep trading their 1st rounders. Prospect pool is already thin as it is.
  15. Whoever they pick as GM /POHO, we better hope that they value draft picks and are good at drafting like Benning was. Wouldn't want the Organization to be in a similar spot prospects, draft wise, pre Benning ERAs and eventually end up with the same mess Gillis left Benning in 2014.
  16. Lol boom. Fits the topic perfectly.
  17. Except none of those teams violated the new oiler rule, of no more than 2 lottery wins in 5 years.
  18. Who said it ist all his fault? HIs fault is not giving full autonomy to management. Understood that even with full autonomy things can go wrong. Who do you place blame on ?
  19. Agree, he did state it would be unfair to rebuild with the sedins around..that in itself was a mistake (aqulini's had a hand in this). When he stated and realized a rebuild was necessary after sedins were heading towarda retirement it was too late and ownership wasn't on board to start with. All the players that had value were worth nothing at that point.
  20. 100% . If they are smart and want to right the ship they should start a rebuild now. Trade anyone not named Demko, Hughes, Petterson, Podkolzkin, Hoglander and maybe boeser (all guys under 25). Build the team with picks and prospects around the guys for a few years. If they continue down this path and trading picks away, the losing will continue and guys like Horvat, Miller, Pearson, Motte only get older and lose value.
  21. Giving full autonomy to Management is the pre req....then it's management making sure they find scouts coaches etc. I feel like Benning was the right person to do a rebuild with his strong drafting, but the stated pre req was not met.
